See our Jon Jo has signed a new deal. Hopefully puts an end to any transfer speculation. I for one am glad to keep him here long term, will continue to improve under GM. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11731/9907009
More than happy with this Shelvey delighted to commit to Swans It’s an honour and privilege to sign for another four years at Swansea City and give the fans back the support they’ve shown in me." Jonjo Shelvey Jonjo Shelvey admitted it was an honour and privilege to sign a new four-year contract at Swansea City. The 23-year-old has committed to the club until 2019 after agreeing a fresh deal this afternoon. Shelvey, who had two years left on his original deal, was delighted to put pen to paper to extend his services with the Swans. “It’s been on the cards for a few weeks and I’m glad to get the papers signed so I can now concentrate on my football,” revealed Shelvey. “When my agent mentioned it to me I said ‘when can we get it signed?’ “It’s an honour and privilege to sign for another four years at Swansea City and give the fans back the support they’ve shown in me. “I feel I’ve got better. I thought I did well in my first year. I didn’t start off too well last season – I had a sticky patch – but at the back end of last season I really kicked on. “Hopefully I can get my head down in pre-season and hit the ground running for the start of the Premier League.” image: http://www.swanseacity.net/cms_images/ki-shelvey-4x358-2324769.jpg please log in to view this image The England international has proved a shrewd acquisition at the Liberty following his £5million move from Liverpool in 2013. He scored six goals in 42 appearances in his first season at the Swans before finding the net another three times last term as he played a key role in the club’s record-breaking campaign under the leadership of Garry Monk. And he feels having played 77 times already in his time at SA1 it has justified his decision to swap Anfield for the Liberty. “The main reason I left Liverpool was to play games,” said Shelvey. “Luckily, I’ve found a club that is a superb place to play your football. I’ve not regretted the move once since I left, and now I’ve signed for four more years I can’t wait to kick on. “The way we play gives me confidence to play to my ability. You will see a few changes in terms of the way we play this season. “The manager is constantly onto us and there will be a few changes, but it will be a lot better for the club.” image: http://www.swanseacity.net/cms_images/utd-jonjo58-1905310.jpg please log in to view this image With preparations already underway for the new Barclays Premier League season, Shelvey is hoping the Swans can build on their memorable 2014-15 campaign. He added: “Outside of the top four I feel we are in that next bracket where we are looking to get into the European places. “At this club, with the players we have brought in and the players we already have, we can do that. We just missed out last year but hopefully this year it will happen for us.” Read more at http://www.swanseacity.net/news/art...ity-contract-2533879.aspx#wB7LfYO5roXs2Yo5.99
Really pleased about this! If Jonjo can become more consistent then he is more than good enough to play regularly for England - the only question then is, "will that to**er Woy pick him coz he plays for Swansea" ......
Not so sure he will Taff, but Monk would. We may have to watch out as I think England may come calling when they put Woy out to pasture.
You may be correct so long as we (& Garry) continue to kick on and improve. Pardew will have his supporters, but he is probably too much of a hothead for the FA.
Wearing my selfish hat the more England ignore our English players the better it is for monk and the team as we have less worries when players go on international duty and we wont have the country/club disputes...... Shelvey is more than capable of playing for his country
Given the way he's played since January, this news is as fantastic as any signing we've made this summer
Great news! As important as any other signing we've made this year. He really came on last season and has cemented himself as a first team regular and a matchwinner for us. Glad he's put pen to paper.
Shows he is committed and everyone else who have signed an extension to their contracts......I am concerned with wages though as we seem to be splashing out to the point that we cant afford to be relegated in the next 4 years at least........we wont of course........i hope......i pray.....
He has really improved no end under Monk, must admit I wasn't that fussed on his game when he first came here, but am very happy to see him with a new contract, he's looking like a very good box to box midfielder, a premier league Prateley that can only get better again under Monk.
Looks like Jonjo means business this coming season http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/swansea-city-star-jonjo-shelvey-9646384
Good on him. Reckon he'll be proper fired up this season...maybe too much knowing him...a few red cards on their way He's really growing on me. Not the brightest, but weirdly becoming quite loveable
