Sheff Wed v Swansea Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - Hillsborough Date - 22 October 2024 Kick off - 7:45pm Following yet another 0-1 defeat on the road, this time at Ewood Park, Luke Williams’ goal-shy Swansea squad are back in action with a visit to Hillsborough. Last Saturday, Blackburn made it five successive home wins in the Sky Bet Championship with a 1-0 victory over goal-shy Swansea. John Eustace's men were aiming to match a record set by Rovers' title-winning side in 1994-95 by stretching their perfect Ewood Park start and Tyrhys Dolan's second goal of the season was enough to end a two-match losing streak and move them back into the top six. Andi Weimann should have added a late second in what was an unconvincing performance but Blackburn maximised the time they were in the ascendancy, which they have done clinically all season at home. The Swans had enough of the ball and play but could not apply the finishing touch, with Florian Bianchini and Goncalo Franco both missing gilt-edged opportunities either side of the break. The Swans are now winless in four and have failed to score in four of their five away games. Whilst the Swans were losing in Lancashire, Burnley went back to the top of the Championship after beating Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. Goals either side of half-time from Jaidon Anthony and captain Josh Brownhill sealed three points for Scott Parker's side, who are now unbeaten in their last seven league matches. The Clarets lost top stop at the end of the weekend as Sunderland beat Hull City the following day. As a result of the defeat, Sheffield Wednesday dropped to 18th, three points above the relegation zone: that’s 5 places and 1 point below the Swans. The Swans have played the Owls on 37 previous occasions, winning 10, losing 14 and drawing 13. In the corresponding fixture last season, the sides played out a 1-1 draw: Turning to tomorrow evening, I suspect that if the Owls score they will win, so the best we can hope for is a 0-0 draw. I would take that point now if offered. But I think that Wednesday will score a couple (we all just know that Jamal Lowe will score) and will run out 2-0 winners. Hope I’m wrong
I have missed 2 away games this season one was a win and the other Sheff Utd. If we can be more positive and speedy tonight and shoot on sight we can win this. I am going 2-1
I forecast 2-1....the first one being a fortunate bounce off a defenders legs to Cullen who pokes it in from 3 yards and the winner will be an own goal in the 96th minute....confident
Cardiff won 5-0 on Saturday, they are 2-0 up after half hour tonight. Meanwhile we haven't scored a goal for over 6 hours and counting.
