Michael Morrison joined the Owls from Leicester City last year for £250k. Powelly would have known him from their time together at Leicester. Wonder if there is any truth in this rumour. http://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=152141
Looks like their opinion on him is quite mixed. But Powell has worked with with him and knows defenders. So if it's true it can't exactly be bad.
I like one of the owls fans comments... "Re: Morrison going to Charlton, I'm very disappointed that he's leaving to go to a club that looks very much like a top 3 side. We would definitely want to be getting the 250k we paid for him. Otherwise, I don't think its worth it."
They won't get more than £150,000 for him in the present climate from any club. No CB who cannot hold down a place in a Div One side is worth £250,000.
This is my favourite quote from this thread, sums up how the rumour mill works: Remember them being pretty excited about Morrison this time last year, but as mentioned there's hardly glowing reviews on the site! Also, there's another stream on there getting quite excited about David Mooney and seeing that if they sign him they don't need Neil Mellor any more!! Bye bye Wednesday, that's one team less to worry about!
Kerpowell, I'd say we need at least one more CB, preferably young with a bit of pace (especially if they're going to be playing alongside Doherty or Dailly). I agree that we do need another striker though, preferably (again) a young, pacey striker in the mould of Eccleston, but maybe also a target man, just for emergencies.
I've seen Morrison play a few times, and he is definitely a player of note. The Wednesday fans are seriously understating his ability.
