This will be wen our season starts. New players got to know each other, international players welcomed back and KM has some time to coach. On a pleasant, dry Suffolk evening, Egeli comes on at 80 and scores his 1st goal. A much improved Town romp home against bottom club. 4-0 home win.
Morning Gaffer, sadly not feeling very positive at the moment, but hopefully things will turn around.
Lots of comfortable possession, but only 1 shot on goal. The shot comes from Akpom and is actually wildly off target but luckily this takes an enormous deflection off philogene, wrong footing the keeper. The ball cannons off the post before squirming across the line. This happens in the 5th minute of first half stoppage time. Nothing else interesting happens in the game and we win 1-0. McKenna declares it a dominant victory.
There are probably only a couple of teams in this division who have underperformed worse than us. Sheffield United, on the back of four straight losses, are one of them. The international break was probably well-timed for us, but what worries me is that several players had been called up. The likes of O’Shea, Jack Taylor, and McAteer didn’t exactly cover themselves in glory on their Republic of Ireland duties - with O’Shea coming in for particularly strong criticism after the recent 2-1 defeat to Armenia. We’re often good value at Portman Road under the floodlights. A narrow 2-1 victory for Town, but another performance where we wonder when it’ll all start to click properly.
