Sheffield United have completed their first signing of the summer after confirming the arrival of Haiti defender Jean-Francois Lescinel.

The League One club announced the deal yesterday evening, the Sheffield Star reports.

Lescinel played under Blades manager Danny Wilson at Swindon Town and is his first signing in the post.

The versatile defender came through the ranks at Paris St Germain before playing for Sedan, Falkirk and Guingamp. He moved to the County Ground in 2009.

He has signed a two-year deal at Bramall Lane.

Wilson said: “Jean has got the character to play here. Coming to a bigger stage will, in my opinion, inspire him to do even better.

    “He’ll feed off it.”

Lescinel will meet his new team-mates for the first time when the squad returns for pre-season training at the end of the month.

The signing means Wilson has cooled his interest in West Brom defender Joe Mattock, who was on-loan at the club last season.

Wilson continued: “Jean can play left-back or centre-half. He’s versatile and can cover both of those positions.

“Jean has got a great left foot, he’s a very good athlete and is nice and aggressive on the pitch. He’s also a good character to have around and that’s important.

“Perhaps the only thing he’s lacked in the past is a little bit of consistency, but that will come.”

Yes, Jeans is a good player and played well in the center half and also the left back. He is also a good athlete. So, Jean is more important player than other. The league club announced the deal with Jean in Sheffield star reports. I think it is a good deal. Congratulations!!! Jean.

Jean is very athletic, has a terrific left foot, is comfortable at both left-back and centre-back, so gives you good options. What we will see is an aggressive and competitive character and he is also the first Haiti international to play for Sheffield United.
