What a night that was! As away days go probably only bettered by Wembley and our famous away results in 2008/09.
I remember being outside Leppings Lane at kick off time and seeing the literally thousands still outside and the coppers ****ting themselves. We arrived that night. Funnily enough, Blunts away under Peter Taylor was also one of my favourite ever away days. We may have lost 3-2 to an injury time winner but even when 2-0 down the City fans were truly awesome. I dont think any of the 3500 there that day stopped signing for one second and I came away floating on air feeling like we had won. Peter Taylor sometimes gets overlooked but I'll forever be indebted for some of my favourite ever days supporting the club.
Agree with this. Had some great away days too under Taylor, especially in the promotion season to the Championship. Tranmere, Bradford, Barnsley, Bournemouth just some of the great away days of that time alongside that night at Hillsborough.
Without doubt my favourite ever away day. I was only 14 at the time so had only ever seen us against fourth division teams other than the occasional cup match, so this was a big one! wednesday, ex-prem team, huge stadium and we ****ing took over the place, bet they'd never seen anything like it. The image of Barmby's volley will be tattooed in my mind as long as I live. Does anybody have any photos of the away end from that night? Looking forward to this one next season, lets make it Hullsborough again.
What a killer there late goal was, yet still we continued singing, Peter Taylors Black and Amber army went on for about half an hour, was a great away day.
i always remember when the ref failed to give a nailed on penalty for a foul on green, peter taylor grabbed the 4th officials board and tried to sub the referee...classic!
Someone on CI has started a thread welcoming the pigs back. (no poodlism there) Same person claiming he won't go again if PB returns. Major, major Poodle alert. (bless) In an endearing sort of way. Yapping little poodle, are you allowed to say major xxxx on here? EDITED.(x2)
I remember that atmosphere but personally I was well pissed off at the result and Paddy Kenny's cheating!
Kenny was a ****er that night, but I still left feeling like we'd just won. Wasn't that the same game that some old bloke on crutches tried to get on the pitch to have a go at Kenny?
Best news all day for me, and I agree with the chap off FootyMad - 'much rather them than those Blunt ****ers' Only been to Wednesday once to watch City, the 1-1 draw in 2005 (first away game of the season) and I loved it. Great ground, great set of fans and an all-round decent club. Compare that to Sheffield Un*ted...
