Could be huge for the City if it’s viable.
Wow, that looks special...
I wonder if we own that land. Could be like really clean Saudi oil without the blood stains? :-D
Looks like the bridge could be delayed, the council failed in it's bid from the north begging fund, i mean levelling up fund
Work starts on the bridge in the next few weeks, in March, to be exact. It's due for completion in 2025 (I don't know the exact date, but probably about mid 2025). It'll be a similar construction process to the Northern Spire, with ground and preparatory work filling in most of this year and significant construction in the later part of this/early next year.
The bulk of what's starting soon is the "noisey" work to avoid disturbing the housing being built and the start of work on the new eye hospital. Funding is in place for it, this bid was just a bid for additional funding towards it.
blimey. That’s a very innovative solution. Hope they can pull it off.
and if i win the big euros our stadium will be going to 65,000 so east stand 12,000 seats added and 5,200 in the south stand season cards starting at about £100 each. a multi storey car park as well.
Probably people on here that know more than me about Monkwearmouth Colliery, but when it was sunk it was one of the deepest in the world , and the one of the wettest and hottest , so if all goes well (no pun intended) this could be a massive, massive boost for the area. I believe Gateshead already have a much smaller project that is up and running and paying dividends, so the omens are good .
Talking to the lads at Vaux, it appears they will be taking up a place in the entertainment complex n the Sheepfolds.
Just discovered the Vaux brewery and tap room the other week, really good beer and nice to see a local name reborn. They also do a cracking pizza slice before the game as well.
New southern entrance for the train station coming along nicely......
Basically a Metro station
The proper station will be the North entrance, just hope it gets built and we end up with the 4 platforms
Could be me probably is, but you've lost me there???
They’re going to get the energy from the pit on which the stadium is built and we pay extortionate police costs because we own a good deal of the land around the stadium. If the plant is built on club land and it’s generating so much energy we should look into getting a split. Depends how they need to access the old workings I suppose. But a split of revenue for something so lucrative would be a fantastic. Like Saudi Oil.
IIRC apart from the actual stadium the club only own the car park out the back of the main stand and the land that Black Cat House stands on.
We don't even own the car park out the back of the East Stand, we may have a decent lease on that though.
The situation may have changed of course but that is my recollection
Think we used to own the land that the Hilton was built on but that was spun off into the company that was responsible for that development and ownership may remain with Ellis Short but not sure on that one.
I'm also not sure about the land on which the Foundation of Light is based , again think it is owned by the charitable foundation but not sure.
A lot of the land around the ground is still owned by the development organisation that took over from TWDC think it may have links to Sunderland Council now but not sure.
To summarise I was surprised how little land the club actually own when I saw details in one of those development plans for the sheepfolds area but that was some time ago.
It begs the question why do NP sting us for such high policing costs (I believe the reason was it was our land) compared to the Mags?
And I’d be interested in knowing how this company are going to access the old workings?
Absolutely no idea how policing costs are worked out.
In relation to the old mine workings was there not some residual authority set up to take on responsibility for any pollution etc when the NCB was wound up?
I wouldn't be surprised if they also retained rights to minerals in the workings and that they may be the body entitled to any share of income arising from the extraction of hot water.
However I am no expert on this and everything above must be treated as speculation and treated with a large dose of salt
