I was thinking about this earlier watching MK Dons vs Chelski. Shearer was digging quite a few times at Gullit and I had to laugh. As Big Al said, his own Management 'career' was 8 weeks. Lineker was questioning Mourinho's decision to drop a "proven goal-scorer" to the bench, Shearer instantly recognised that's exactly what Gullit did to him at Newcastle United! Twas a good giggle
People rarely mention that he dropped Shearer AND Duncan Ferguson. He played Paul Robinson instead. If you think it is daunting dropping Shearer can you imagine going up to Big Dunc and telling him? Give Gullit some credit he had stones.
Shearer was quite candid about the whole affair. The funniest element of it was when he went in to training early at about 8:30am to have it out with Gullit the next training day. He got there full of rage only to find Ferguson was already in there tearing him a new one (which allegedly included getting physical). I bet Gullit was ****ting himself.
