I have just finished the book above. A great read. It's about a Stoke fan living in Norwich and it follows Stoke in their first season back in Division 1 (2002-03). Amazon reviews here http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews/0743256832/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 Free to a good home, or would appreciate a swap for another football book. Charlton do get a couple of mentions, but the main one is that Charlton are "boring, crap, anti-glamour, and play in horrible shirts".
Sounds good - its on my Amazon wishlist I haven't quite finished it yet (so can't offer it up!) but I reccomend this one about Wales in the 1958 World Cup: http://www.amazon.co.uk/When-Pele-Broke-Our-Hearts/dp/1902719026
Looks good. Will you want to hold on to it when you've finished? If not, I can send the Stoke book to you and then when you finish, I'd be interested in the Wales one
Sorry IA, forgot to reply to this yesterday - I'm building up a quite unimpressive library (it's mainly unread JG Ballard books at the moment) so I think I will probably keep it, sorry!
This is one of the best football books i've read in recent years. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Miracle-Castel-Sangro-Joe-McGinniss/dp/075152753X However, I borrowed it off a mate, so it's also not available for a swap unfortunately.
Not one to read football books. The lives of footballers I find most disinteresting. Want a good read, or are interested in "decent" literature try this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ham-Rye-Charles-Bukowski/dp/1841951633/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357062392&sr=8-1
IA... And anyone interested in the 1998 Play Off Final... This may be worth a punt and a read - a Sunderland fans diary or the 97/8 season 'And Up Steps Michael Gray...' http://www.amazon.co.uk/Steps-Michael-Gray-Secret-Sunderland/dp/1898927758
Hey Kish, sorry I still have the Stoke book in Aberdeen, forgot about it and didn't bring it down with me. When I get back up there I can send it to you if you're still interested. Sunderland book sounds interesting
