Did we miss an opportunity by not signing him? He's just moved to Villa. At 35, he could have been our number one for at least 3 years while Szczesny gets some good experience and then leave or become a coach.
I'm not sure Szczesny would stick around for three years waiting for his chance. I agree that that it would be good to have some good competition and cover, but I think Szczesny is our future no1 and I wouldn't want to risk his future at the club, by demoting him to no2.
He's good though at 35 a gamble to sign for so long after playing so few games last year. I thought the big problem with Given is that he's a great shot stopper but can't do much else. Surely that has been our problem with Fabianski and Almunia.
