    Just watching MOTD earlier and saw Shay Given playing for Stoke and I suddenly remembered he played for us but when we were at Roker Park! Can anyone think of a current player that has played for or against us at Roker. I suspect that if there is one it will be a keeper

    Acording to wiki he made his debut for Watford in 96 but he was not in the Watford team that played us at Roker that year (league cup). I suspect Given is the last.

    I am sure I saw that Terry has been with Chelsea for 17 years so that would take him back to 99

    Well he's the only other player I can think of who'd fit the time frame, Brian Janson the Keeper? He'd be old enough but was he overseas at the time?Don't think he will have. John O'Shea can't be far off either but think it will have been a little bit too early.

    Retired and didn't play in premier till 97 - if you remember newcastle and safc tried to sign him but couldn't as he had not played enough games for his country or something. Then Liverpool came in for him and he presto <grr>

    I remember talking to Peter Reid about Freidel when he was attempting to get him signed (my marra was Mickey Grays kit sponsor so often go VIP tickets etc)
    My favourite conversation with Reidy was when he was telling me that David Pleat was a '****in fanny' due wanting over a million for some old bloke called Chris Waddle <laugh>
