Aston Villa are being linked with a £4 million bid for Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given. The 35-year-old wants to leave Eastlands after failing to dislodge Roberto Mancini's first-choice keeper Joe Hart. Some bookmakers suspended betting on Given joining the Villans, such was the level of speculation. But new Villa manager Alex McLeish is reported to be keeping his options open in his hunt for a new custodian. Birmingham keeper Ben Foster remains McLeish's number one choice, but he remains aware the very little water has passed under the bridge since his controversial move across the city from Blues. Bolton goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi is another option as his permanent move to former loan club Wigan stalls over the fee. And relegated West Ham's first-choice Robert Green is known to be eager to return to the Premier League. Monacoâs Stephane Ruffier and Rangersâ Allan McGregor are also being touted as options.
