The sports editor from The Sentinel has tweeted the following:

Want to know what the future holds for Ryan Shawcross? See tomorrow's Sentinel ...

Could mean anything, but it's intriguing nonetheless!

I am almost certain that <whistle> it's a done(a clause in his contract) deal with UTD that they have first(refusal) IF we did sell Ryan

I don't believe any of the rumours relating to QPR or Spurs, but if he was to go anywhere, I would expect it to be Man Utd. There is probably a clause in his contract which says they can have first dibs. It wouldn't surprise me if they could also have him for a knockdown fee knowing what a wily old fox Ferguson is.

I just hope the Sentinel are saying something along the lines of, "Shawcross has declined Coleman's offer and decided to pursue his dream of paying for England." and that it's got nothing to do with him leaving.

I'm sure he'll go at some point if he doesn't get into the England setup with Stoke, and I wouldn't blame him for doing so, but I hope we can hold on to him for a little bit longer.

It does amaze me tbh.. I honestly thought we we're robbed paying was it 12 million for Crouchie BUT, he has proven he can do it and he did again last season for us.

The money SAFC have paid seem's too much to me personally and only time will tell if Fletcher can " cut it" this season. 35 million for Carroll.. yeah let's have a laugh Potter P. And, I was serious when I said at least 20 million for Ryan in line with others who have moved this summer. But, he won't be going anywhere we all know he won't. Not yet anyhow.

The figure being touted is £15 million and as Pulis has said before if the price is right he is gone. I've just read on a Spurs bord that they are offering another player in a money plus player deal - http://www.spurs-web.com/spurs-news/2m-and-zokora-for-shawcross/

STOKE defender Ryan Shawcross has emerged as the latest player linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

According to The Sun, Spurs are willing to pay £2million and gave Didier Zokora in exchange – which must value Shawcross at around £10million.

Zokora is set to be on the verge of a move to Sevilla, where Champions League football is available, so I doubt he’d be impressed with a move to the Britannia Stadium instead.

Shawcross, 21, started his career at Manchester United and joined the Potters after a loan spell.

Is this just another case of a crazy pre-season rumour? Have your say below.

    Didier Zokora???

According to Wikipedia he left spurs in 2009 and is now playing for Turkish side Tranzonspor!

    ...and Shawcross is 24!

    Must be an old story!!

Edit - It does say on the link that it was posted 1143 days ago!

    Waddo
I just checked the Oatcake NOT the most reliable of sources I know mate but, they say Spurs are willing to pay 17 million for Ryan/player exchange with the cash.

DEFOE and DAWSON plus let's start at around 13 million. They can have Ryan. Dawson is a very, very good CH and Defoe IMO is up there with the best currently playing.

Am I insane Waddo? It's quite possible. Spurs are linked with another forward so we'll see.

For me I think Shawx is great and as our captain and being with the squad since our promotion campaign it would be a shame to lose him. However, (IMO) Hth has outperformed him and he has not progressed which is why he has not been selcted for England. The blame for this is laid firmly at the door of TP for inhibiting te progression of one of England brightest young defenders!

So in the best interest of Club and player, sell him for 20 million and replace him with Dawson!

There is no way on Eath that anyone (including Pulis) would contemplate selling Shawcross who is one of our best players. I dont care how much they offered it would be a massive loss to Stoke city.

If ShawX leaves I will be absolutely gutted. Surely TP/PC would not be stupid enough to sell him, not now in any case. If he fails to get an England call-up then he may himself look to move to a more fashionable club but not until Jan 2013 at the earliest or next season possibly, and not cheaply either.

Just seen on BBC footy website that Ryan has rejected the chance to play for Wales...... I hope that is the Sentinel story and not that he is leaving Stoke City
