OK, I know it's for ****s and *****s before anyone starts. But does anyone partake in shaving as a hobby rather than a necessity? I recently purchased an Edwin Jagger double edge razor (with a pack of blades), a boar hair shaving brush and a pot of Taylor of Old Bond Street sandalwood shaving cream. The difference from shaving with the generic Mach 3 type cartridge razors is phenomenal. Cartridges just hack your skin and leave you irritated. So my routine is, leave the razor and shaving brush steeping in hot water in the sink whilst having a hot shower. Wash your face thoroughly and massage the beard area. Afterwards, work up a lather with the shaving cream and brush and wet your face with warm water. Apply the lather and shave downwards with the grain on your first pass. Re lather and shave across the grain on your second pass. On the third pass shave across the grain in the other direction. I like to shave against the grain under my chin area. It leaves you feeling great, with zero redness or irritation. Might make the step up to the cut throat razor one day. Gentleman Beale.
For a proper close shave you need to later up and shave TWICE. First time - normal shave, then lather up again and shave against the grain. NEVER use aftershave on a freshly shaved face, only Balms or cream.
And by the way, the final rinse of the razor before applying the blade should be in cold water, not hot. By all measn clean the blade with hot water but not before applying to your skin.
The only shaving I think worth the conversation here is pussy grooming Sorry no accompanying picture, I'm on the work PC
Why not? It's enjoyable and makes you feel good. I don't do it in a rush before work I set time aside at night and take my time over it. i wouldn't expect peasants to understand.
Am a lazy bastard. Leccy shave every morning. The only time I wet shave is if am going out for the evening. The shaving cream from Aveda is brilliant. Nice close shave, no irritation. They do a good balm as well.
Same gambol, I only treat myself maybe twice a week. The rest of the time it's the stubble shaver for me
