Time to announce my retirement from professional football. What a journey it’s been, some wonderful highs and some agonising lows. So after some difficult conversations between close family and friends the time feels right to step aside from the dream I had as a little kid. There are many reasons for this but the most important being I feel it’s time to finally put my family first (my wife and young children) Thank you to you for making all the sacrifices you have for me to fulfil the career I’ve had, without your love and support it wouldn’t have ever been possible. It’s time to now move closer to home and be surrounded with our loved ones so they can see and watch our children grow up… Thank you to my parents who gave me the best possible start of becoming a professional it wouldn’t have ever started without you taking me all over the country when times were hard. Thanks to my brother and sisters for always being there and coming to watch games on most weekends when you probably didn’t even want to, I love you all. To the rest of my family and friends who have always been behind me and pushed me out of my comfort zone, your encouragement and help got me this far. To all my clubs, managers, coaches, back room staff, teammates & supporters who have helped me in any way, shape or form thanks for making me a better player but most importantly a better person. Finally to my agent Dan who have always put me first in every single move away, your advice, help and trust have meant the world to me, thank you for being so loyal. Time to now be a football fan again… Looking forward to the next adventure in life. Love and respect always, Macca” Used to chat to Shaun in the DL Club at Llandarcy - a really nice young man. Good luck Shaun
I remember picking a tooth up off the black n white tiled atrium up the Penlan Club. Funny what you remember. No connection with Shaun, sorry. Best of luck though in whatever you do next
