Who would you rather see in a saints shirt this season?

Looking over both players stats, Sharp's scoring record in the championship is pretty impressive, bearing in mind he had an injury last season but still managed 15 goals.

If Bristol are wanting a reported 4 million for Maynard I would rather give Donny the 3 million they want for Sharp and use the spare million on another defender to partner Jose. Maybe St Ledger? or has he already signed for someone else?

If the options are £4m for Maynard and £3m for Sharp then probably Sharp, but if it was the same price I'd rather Maynard.

There is no denying Maynard is a good player. But paying 4 million for him is abit over priced! I would Rather have 2 proven championship players for the same price as Maynard.

That's why it's a difficult situation, do we want to bring someone in to be a star like Maynard, or do we want to bring several people in who can put in a very good shift. In Nicola/Nige/Les Reed/whoever gets the final call we trust, I suppose.

I don't think anyone would be dissapointed which one we signed. Just see which one Nicola feels is best...

I wouldn't slit my wrists if we signed neither. We already have a really top striker called Rickie Lambert. Lee Barnard, Guly and Connolly when he's fit will all be decent too. I don't think a seriously quality striker is priority. A young, scout-pick could be just the ticket and we save a lot of money if he turns out to be awesome. Same for a winger.

Defenders and CMs tend to be much better with experience, but luckily the prices of them aren't so steep.

He's not eperienced but young and seems a really good prospect, Tom Cairney of Hull.

Ooh I'd love that, I hadn't even considered that.

EDIT: Looking at it Hull fans don't seem to think he's actually that good any more, I just have memories of in the Prem when he looked like a real future star. Ah well!

Hi, first post on not 606. I would definitely go for Maynard, if we could get him, because I think that we need a pacey striker and for me Sharp and Lambert are too similar types of players. Personally I think Barnard will struggle at this level and Connolly will be an impact player.

No disrespect. But surely Sharp and Lambert are the complete opposite. Lambert holds the ball up and brings others into play, aswell as having the abillity to knock goals in from everywhere. Where are as Sharp is quick and more of a poacher. I think they would work well together.

Fair enough, if he is quick then that is what we clearly need, however I was under the impression that he was not that quick. He has a good goal scoring ratio but I am wondering if 3 million plus player is a bit steep.

Maynard is fantastic, would be the perfect new striker signing. He'll be playing in the prem within years so why not with us?

We have to spend if we want to get out of this league at some time.

He is fairly quick and seems to be in the right place at the right time, to knock in the goals. I hear what your saying, but ever since leicester have been chucking their money, around prices are bound to go up beacuse clubs know that they can now get that sort of price.

To be honest Leicester are going to have to produce the goods this season or they will be financially in trouble.

Jack Cork is the obvious one. I'm not a scout, nor have I watched enough of the Championship since Saints were last in it to have more than a basic knowledge. The ones I've heard of are probably overrated or out of our price range. Luckiy I'm not in charge of scouting or transfers.
