.....So reports in Italy are suggesting that we have put a late bid in for Shaqiri....This guy is a correspondence for BeIN sports but also writes for Gazetta dello Sport.

I'd love to sign him but I think he is destined for Stoke. When you are watching their game, things are pretty far along. Not saying it can't happen but I'd suspect its doubtful and this is all just some random making **** up.

However in the spirit of positive thinking, I look forward to Shaqiri, Umititi and Veltman arriving this week. Rolan or Austin to follow the week after.

Can't see how we'd spend an extra £2m for absolutely no reason at all. Come to think of it, I can't imagine we'd spend that kind of money on Shaqiri full stop. McLaren has said he's building a team around Sissoko, who by all accounts is our first choice RM. Obertan is getting game time, so would be backup. As I've said elsewhere, I think we would be better off with Townsend for a fraction of Shaqiri's price (probably). Either way, I'd sooner see Veltman come in, but now can't see any arrivals without departures. Veltman in, Fer for Tiote, Townsend/Shaqiri for Sissoko, Austin for Cisse and I'm a pig in sh1t.

Never mind him, the week-end showed we desperately need another CB to play with Mbemba who can challenge for aerial balls. Undone twice and suspect to any ball played in from wide. Neither Colo Or Janmaat were anywhere near the players who scored.

He's having a medical at Stoke according to SSN, so another bollocks rumour.

Left back and left winger. Obertan and Haidara are going to have the piss taken out of them by every team we play.

Obertan was really good, that cross was banging. Not easy on the run with ball bouncing. If he can hold his form and stay fit he can be of use. Big IF though. Certainly I'd like another winger, but wide and up top are not essential. Left back and centre back are.

Wouldn't be a bad signing but I'd rather go after Redmond from Norwich personally. Only 21/22, scored a good goal at the weekend and is English for when we qualify for CL.... :emoticon-0105-wink:

Seriously though he's a good crosser of the ball, got pace to burn as well.

Obertan couldn't pull that cross off from the left wing which is where he would be playing 99% of the time. He offered far less in attack than Aarons would have from the left side of the pitch IMHO. If Sissoko is our preferred choice on the right wing then I'm not sure we need a winger that much. Sissoko, Aarons, Cabella, Perez is not a bad set of options for the wide positions. If Sissoko is off elsewhere then we obviously will need a right winger.

Buy a quality LB, and buy Austin and sell Cisse. I think I would be fairly satisfied with that for this transfer window.

Should have added that I would be fairly satisfied with those signings only if Williamson and Gouffran are shipped out aswell.

Rmemeber we have cabella coming back as well. I don't think we should sell cisse for austin either. Thought obertan was at his best yesterday. Anita as well. Hopefully a sign of things to come.

Aarons must start for me. I think left back and centre back are our only pressing needs. We have a lot of options wide, and though I'd like another forward we have 4 options and McClaren will likely only play 1
