Got to be worth a punt, now that Reading have failed to gain promotion again this season.
24 year old striker who I think has what it takes to cut it in the premiership, after seeing the way Reading performed in the FA cup against premiership opposition I thought they were the more likly to come up.

Wonder how much he would cost?

I suppose he's as much a gamble as buying unproven (at EPL level) French players. If we get him cheap enough I wouldn't be complaining.

He would be alright to play in the reserves or maybe sit on the bench as cover if he does well in training but we should have more ambition when targeting strikers.

I'd go for him if I was Pardew.

Would be pointless bringing him in if that's what you'd do with him, as someone has mentioned above he's as much of a risk as an unproven in EPL player from the French leagues.

He's played in the Championship for a couple of years now so is used to the physical side of the game and proven himself at that level, I think he is a player ready to step up to the next level.

He is better than Ranger, Shola and Lovenkrands by a mile (Best wass starting to find his feet before he got injured).

I think we are be ambitious with the players we are going for but you need to get players in who can fit in quickly, my only concern with the foreign players they are looking to bring in is how long it'll take them to adapt to the English game.
It to Jone, Jose and Collo a couple of seasons.

I'd defo take him. If all the talk of Gervinho is to be believed then we should have a pop at Long as the Gameiro deal with then be off and we'll still be in need of a striker.

Nahh. Not my cup of tea to be honest. 23 goals in 45 apps in the Championship, and we all know that he won't be able to keep a similar record in the EPL, so what could it end up being? A goal every 3 games? Decent, but not great.

Good signing if we can get him on the cheap, reminds me a lot of Kevin Doyle, will work hard for the team and his goals record can only improve with age.

Long would not be one of my targets (no better than Best). I assume we will have Ameobi and Best as back up strikers and maybe Lovenkrands so we need someone better (much) than Long. To be honest not seen Erdinc play but Gameiro (or someone of his ilk) would be a very good signing

I agree he gives his all both for Reading and ROI and remember some thought Carroll wouldn't make it in the Prem and look what happened there!

He played 50 EPL games for Reading only scoring 5 EPL goals, what does that tell you? Berbatov, Gameiro etc would be better. We need a player who knows how to score.

Not good enough if we're to push on, no better than Best in my opinion. Missed a sitter yesterday.
