Earlier I was preparing dinner and I thought.... Harry seems to want to play the hard to beat containing game. That means someone up front on their own who works hard and runs the channels. Cisse and Zamora won't, and I'm not so sure that DJ will. ( Effectively. ) So who could do this job... realistically? Shane Long was the only player that came to mind. He can do all the above and bang 'em in all for half the price of a Cisse. Shane Long is ya man... get him onboard.
Shane long is a fantastic player, i can't see West Brom letting him go! I'd love to buy him outright though.
He'd like it from a personal perspective, his other half's roots and family are well placed for the trip in to Rangers.
i work with a guy called shane long. i am sure he would love it if he (the player) became a QPR player, as i could chant shane long songs at him when his does something good at work. gives me another reason to sing QPR songs all day
Think he would be a great signing for us, if we pulled if off. Similar to our Jamie Mackie in attitude and commitment but perhaps a bit more quality. Has surprising pace for a gangly lad and very very good in the air which is something we are missing upfront. Runs the channels well and can hold the ball up and link play. Can't see WBA wanting to let him go. Would quickly become a firm fans favourite.
never liked him at Reading but always puts in a shift. His goals dried up for a bit but does seem to score when needed. At least if we buy him he won't score past us again?
Interesting that Danny Graham also seems semi-available. Both him and Long were the Champ star strikers the year we got promoted - and both have shown enough at this level to suggest they could do a job for us. Either or both for me then... but doubt they'd be on 'Arry's radar.
According to Wikipedia, he's 5'10". Despite my preference for us to play the ball predominantly on the ground, to give us options I usually prefer taller guys up front but if he's quick, good in the air, works hard AND scores goals, that does it for me!
The other West Brom player who wouldn't go a miss would be Graham Dorrans. Hard-worker, good range of passing and has a worldie in his locker
Fantastic player. No chance we could get him. If Newcastle buy him then it's a steal for anything under £20m.
WBA bought him in August 2011 for reported fee of £4.5m, with add-ons bringing that up to about £6.5m. I thought he would go for about £6-8m, but I could be way out there. I really like him, and feel he would be perfect for us. Who knows?
Who said he's not getting a game at West Brom? He's started 15 Premier league games, came on as sub in 5, and didn't feature in 1 game this season. Seems to be quite a regular if you ask me. Bigger and better teams will get him ahead of us I'd say anyway, unless we offer silly money which I'm hoping is a thing of the past.
