1325: FOOTBALL - West Brom are poised to break their transfer record to sign Reading striker Shane Long, reports the Press Association.

    On the BBC website.

Why are there so many good young strikers going and we aren't doing anything?

They aren't allowed Long, Odemwingie has to be their sole goal threat <wah>

Why aren't we going for him, absolute madness, and more proof that Ashley is running transfers without having a clue.

was just about to post something similar .. although it's questionable whether he really was a target .. a little dissapointed, really thought I'd like to see Long at NUFC .. guess the Baggies are ok with the price tag and we're tagretting someone else .. that's a fairly formidable front two Uncle Woy has now if Long signs and plays alongside Odemwingie .. fair play to them ..

It's West Brom, not West Ham. And the parachute payments are £12m per year for 4 years.

Shame we missed out on Long but not if it's because we are after Toivonen <diva>

Pardew was watching him the other day, but probably a coincidence as he was meant to be looking at Pieters to replace Jose. Need a striker as well though <whistle>

Missed opportunity I think, he would've been a decent signing for us and just the type of striker we need.

  18. I dont care really, i'd rather go for someone a bit more experienced. 7m for Long right now is too much IMO.

I tend to agree. I think it would be more than 7m though since Reading turned down 7m from West Ham.

But, of course, I'd have him if we weren't gunna get anyone else.
