Shane Ferguson played very well, the only player to put in a performance worthy of wearing the Black and White shirt yesterday.

    Great Van Basten esk Volley

    superb footwork

He looks to be a decent player - let's hope he's a genuine option going forward now.

Irish player not out getting hammered for St Patricks Day, there's the first good sign, looked good when he's come on at St James.

Didnt look that solid defensively but looked fantastic going forward, seems to take people on with ease and is fast as ****, looks more like a winger than a LB mind, could be better once he bulks up on this milk and meat diet hes on.

I hope they don't pigeon hole the guy. They should be giving him a role which plays to his strengths (footwork, dribbling, pace, bypassing defenders) instead of trying to transform him to fit into a position.

I can't believe Pardew thinks he is a better left back. He is clearly a winger and a very promising one as well!

He's been at the club since well before Pards arrived, so the youth academy would have been responsible for the direction he would be taking.

But hey, Carroll played at left back once while they were trying to figure out the best position for him to play in. Sometimes you just have to play around until you find out where he 'clicks'. If Pards has any common sense, he will see that he has real winger potential.
