Before I get started don't get me wrong, I am not saying Ferguson will be worth 35 mil in 2 years time <laugh> Because of course the bin dippers will be bankrupt by then.

Anyway, is anyone more excited with what we've seen of Fergie than after we'd seen Carroll breaking through (in the prem)? Actually having a player with technical ability and the skill to beat a man at his age is something that appeals to me more than, "well he's 6 ft 4."

    Shane Ferguson = Sexy Football?

I was always more excited for Carroll I have to be honest. To me, he was the next Alan Shearer until he buggered off.

Both are exciting, but personally I'd prefer a good goalscorer to a skillful winger.

I am really excited by Ferguson and I wasn't so excited by Carroll as most (mainly for the reasons you stated about him being a lump, whilst Fergie looks Messi-esque) but I still went for Carroll. I dunno why really. I think I probably am more excited by Fergie

Fergie has more class, but Carroll was an old fashioned fearless type of striker that would always score goals for us.

Two very different types of player but both excited me.

I chose Carroll though as I was adamant that he'd cut it in the top tier and he proved me right.

    Silly bugger left though :(

One of my mates had a trail for Newcastle last year, and had to play against Shane on the wing. Said the Shane just ran circles around and made him look ordinary.

Got to be Carrol, alot of fans had their hopes pinned on him to leade the line for a generation.

Saying this Fergie is also very promising, not sure how much game time he'l get though as we're looking quite strong in midfield if a few more of these signings come off.

I went for Fergie. Purely because he came from pretty much nowhere and seemed to fit into the first team straight away with great performances. Whereas Carroll had been bigged up for a fair time before playing and didn't really impress very much for a fair old time. I had serious doubts about whether Carroll would ever amount to anything but I am much more confident with Fergie. But then what do I know ...!?

Went for Fergsuson, mainly due to during the time in the Championship I was saying for months to drop Carroll and that Shola and Lovenkrands were much better. Was very impressive the start of last season, but Ferguson has just exicited me more from the beginning. Still love that skill he did against Stoke.

Ferguson makes me think of a potential Beardsley, Carroll used to make me think of a potential Shearer. Based on that, I'm saying Ferguson because his fancy footwork can only get better and that suits me!

Lovely stuff!! Still voted Carroll though - it just seemed that we could finally have a world class player on our hands again (with a bit of nurturing)... now I can only hope he doesn't live up to potential to serve him right for leaving us!
