Craig Shakespeare: Leicester City caretaker boss to be offered manager's job . please log in to view this image Shakespeare has never managed full-time, and was brought to Leicester by Ranieri's predecessor, Nigel Pearson Craig Shakespeare will be offered the Leicester City manager's job until the end of the season, BBC Radio Leicester understands. Shakespeare was Claudio Ranieri's assistant, and has been caretaker boss since the Italian was sacked in February. The Foxes have since won both of their games with Shakespeare in charge. The 53-year-old has never managed full-time, and was brought to Leicester by Ranieri's predecessor, Nigel Pearson. Ranieri, 65, was sacked by Leicester nine months after leading the club to the Premier League title. Leicester have also spoken to other potential candidates to replace him, including former England manager Roy Hodgson. Shakespeare's first match as caretaker manager was a 3-1 league victory over Liverpool. Speaking after that game, defender Danny Simpson said Shakespeare had "kept it simple and told us what he wanted to do, which was simple and basic. We've done that so let's hope we can carry it on for him". After his side moved five points clear of the relegation zone with a 3-1 win over Hull on Saturday, Shakespeare said: "My remit was to win these two games and that's what we've done." Leicester next play Sevilla at home in the second leg of their last-16 Champions League tie next Tuesday. The Spanish side won the first leg 2-1.
No official confirmation but reports are the owners met with CS in Dubai, it was due to be when they returned, clearly they want him signed up.
I have mixed feelings about this - owners will undoubtedly sign a big name in the summer if we stay up so will Shakey want to go back to being a no 2?
And then of course a new man comes in and wants his own assistant and Shakeys goneburger. This is assuming reports are correct and he has/will be offered the job until the end of the season. What would happen if we went on a remarkable run winning most games, made the CL final. wonder if they would still want a big name next season.
Is there one single thing our owners done, that has ended in being bad for the club? There have been many questionable decisions ("Ranieri, really?") But we've been proved wrong every time so far. So I've given up questioning them... Somehow, they seem to know what they are doing...
You are quite right Jack ... personally I was incredibly saddened to see Claudio go after what was acheived last year ... and some of the stuff now about it not really being down to him at all is complete rubbish ... but no individual is bigger than the club (as Arsene Wenger is finding out) and provided the owners make decisions with the 'best interests' of the club at heart, that will do for me ... Claudio Ranieri may well go down in history as the finest manager the club will ever have in terms of what he ac=cheived - so be it - I hope someone comes along and acheives more ... but should that extremely unlikely thing happen, it still won't take away the incredible memories from last season We move on - hopefully to become an established club in the EPL and possibly as an annual challenger for a European place (I can forgive them this season )
Let me think, hmmmm .... please log in to view this image Then again, he signed Schmeichel, so no, they've done nothing wrong
Good point, well made I actually forgot about that... Selective memory Okay, one mistake... But they learnt from that (the hard way!)
Hey! Ive disappeared for quite bit but I will be back abit more now. To say I have had a lot going on is an understatement but all is good To sum up my thoughts on recent events. Minus the last 3 games we have been absolutely pathetic and disgraceful, we crumbled everytime something went against us but that seem to change in the Sevilla game hence why I was so surprised with the timing of Ranieri's sacking as we battled from the first minute to the last when before we downed tools as soon as we went 1-0 down From the owners point of view Ranieri had to go as we was on a massive downwards spiral and the players haven't been playing for him for months which is disgraceful from them but Ranieri has to take some blame for his extremely question decisions at times and for losing the dressing room as they say. Giving the fact we have remembered how to play as a team under Shakey and Vardy and co have started running around again its a no brainer to give Shakey the job until the end of the season and revisit the situation then.
Welcome back Proud followed by a welcome decision by the owners. Lets hope the bonding session in the Middle East went well and now its back to onwards and upwards.
