Quite appalled by what I have just read by a user on SaintsWeb. A sad, and pretty shocking story.

As follows: (posted by Turkish, on SaintsWeb):

This may well be just one side of the story - but if entirely true, it's quite sad.

I would write a letter to Cortese, and make sure the press get wind of it too. Pretty appalling treatment for a loyal Saints fan.

I would write a letter to the top as well. I suppose it's because he is considered not to be in receipt of a disabled benefit, which is obviously stupid.

Make no judgement whatsoever until you have all the available information from both parties in a dispute. That is the first rule of conflict resolution and you have broken it.

    Exactly right, for multiple reasons.

Write a letter definitely but why to the press? No need for that unless the response from the top is not the correct response. That's just **** stirring. If the club don't respond in the manner we would expect then go to the press.

Adam Blackmore has asked for the surname of the family involved - and says if provided, he will make sure the BBC Solent team ring Saints first thing in the morning for an official comment on this matter.

Trouble is, Saints never respond publically to fans if its seen as a "dispute". I'm sure if the media asked them about it there would be the usual reply of "we don't comment on specific cases".

The club's twitter feed would happily retweet a fan in Jakarta saying "the club is great" but there is no bloody chance of them answering totally valid questions from lifelong season ticket holders.

There may well be two sides to this, but on the face of this side of the story, it's hard to see the logic behind the club's decision and at best its tactless at worse, inept, cruel and pathetic.

So you make no judgement on ANYTHING then? You only make a judgement when you 100% know the 100% story from both sides?

    Bollocks you do.

Cortese and the club are obviously gonna be willing to commit the complete PR suicide that comes with this for the sake of a couple of hundred quid, aren't they? Oh wait no, there's probably more to it.

Amen. Definitely checked out both sides of the story before storming into one about people playing Football Manager this morning. Generalising as virgins and sad people. Same in the past with rants that have targeted and tarred specific groups of the forum with the same brush before hearing them out.

Odd. He refers to it as the club's "decision", but I doubt there was ever a process of making a decision. Sounds like a flawed technicality that could easily be fixed, and probably would be if he made the situation known to the club. And yeah, there's also the likelihood that the facts aren't totally clear here.

DEFINITELY no need to get the press involved. It's got tabloid overreaction written all over it.

Could just be a jobsworth? We don't know yet as the club hasn't responded. Hope it gets sorted out as soon as possible tho.

If what is said is true, all I can assume is that...

A ticket office bod has just followed the book to the letter, and not given due care and consideration to the issue at hand.

We've had issues with the TO before and when going to a senior or wanting to complain directly, they have immediately solved the issue.

I hope this situation for the gentleman and his family is resolved and i'm fairly confident it will. It could well be down to a miss-understanding or a miss-communication between both parties. There is always a certain amount of red tape in these situations and sometimes it requires common sense beyond the realms of the rule book to resolve certain issues.

Hey, I sense we are a couple days away from a riot on here. Its all in the build up. It has been a little dull recently. Does it have to coincide with an actual riot breaking out on tv, or can it just be spontaneous?

As a budding reporter you must learn to tell the difference between what is an irritating wind up and what is a serious matter of public importance. That will come with maturity though I am sure. You must also learn not to be so hurt and annoyed with yourself when others point out your mistakes. I suppose given your response to this story there could be a job for you with the Sun as I don't believe they worry to much about gathering all the facts before they publish either.
