Can anyone remember the last time we scored from a free kick, and whats happened to our centre backs scoring from corners ??
I pointed out a while back that we rarely threaten from corners. But you're right free kicks too rarely do much. We have been better for quite some time attacking on the break, it's always seemed quite ponderous otherwise.
Also do we practice throw in's? I wonder sometimes we when we look bereft of movement, ideas and innovation
We need a throw in coach...It always amuses me when we appeal strongly for a throw in and then do nothing with it
Free kick...cant remember. Snodders will get one against aTWS if that helps. Centre back scoring...was it Alex Bruce at home against a Brum. I couldn't give a flying **** who scores...we are top of the league.
Brady was one of the best Free Kick Takers we have had in recent years (imo) and I don't think we have had anyone from defense as threatening as Michael Turner used to be when we won a corner.
But did he score ??? Remember Tom scoring a deflected one away at West Spam, apart from that nothing.
Teams that win a corner are more likely to concede a goal than score one from it!!! PS i cant remember
Davies had 11 in 89 league games at Birmingham which suggests it may be more to do with the delivery and importance placed on set pieces by the coaches.
We should get Burnsy to ask about the throw ins tomorrow night, we've been terrible at them for years and it doesn't look like we actually practice them at all. At least it would highlight the problem to Bruce, usually he listens and does something about it. Of course, now when we watch the game we will be looking for poor throw ins all the time....
Frank Bennion had a dangerous throw, as good as a corner, he will be 90 by now if he's a day though. Is that too old ?
Davies v Cardiff, both our goals in the Cup Final were from corners if my memory serves, McShane v Cardiff when we drew 2-2 with them & went up. Can't remember any recently though?
Davies against Preston. Dawson against QPR Bruce against Ipswich Maguire yet to trouble the scorer. Odubajo same Robertson 2 We could definitely do with CB getting a few headers.
