i cant be the only one who aint really botthered about getting another striker in , i want to give wickham the chance to show us what he capable of the big battering ram getting on the end of larsens crosses ,we might even be a threat at corners and free kicks
The bigger the squad the better. Another proven striker at the club can only be a good thing. I'm sure Wickham will be a big hit on Wearside but he's still very young and at times throughout the season, I'm sure an experienced, proven striker would benefit us. Defoe for me is that marquee signing, others will have there own favourites but either way, that bit of experience is key.
It is aye, unfortunately he isn't going to pick up 5-10 years worth of prem experience in 1 season. Sure he's itching to get a chance to prove to everyone he's capable of the step up though, looking forward to seeing what he can offer.
Sure i once read about a kid who was 16/17 or something that made a name for himself ..Think he was called Michael Owen..Seemed he was old enough, and there has been several others.
Players like that dont come along too often though. i just cant see Bruce throwing him in at the deep end straight away, I know every game is a huge game in the PL, but they dont come much bigger than Liverpool away, and the Toon at home, i dont think Bruce will risk him starting in those 2 games, if he has a mare he may be scarred for life.
As things stand at the minute though, if Bruce is sticking 2 upfront and doesn't go 4-5-1 away to Liverpool, then I can see Wickham starting. Only other option is to maybe stick Sess upfront with Gyan, can't see Wong starting many games till he's used to the speed of the prem.
Take a look at all the successful teams and how many good players they have fighting for a starting place. Then look at us last season, when we didnt.
