Server not responding

I know we have the New Format thread to discuss this new site, but I am having major problems with it that I thought would get lost on that thread. This is not a format issue, it is about the site's servers.

I have experienced recently something that I have never experienced with any other site:

Safari cannot open the page because the server stopped responding.

It takes forever to try and load and then gives up. I get this most of the time, even at odd times of day or night. It will really restrict my use of the forum, I'm afraid. All other sites are fine, my broadband is quick, there seems no other explanation than the servers are not up to the job.
Other symptoms include the sporadic inability to quote or 'like' articles. It took four attempts to load the basic not606 site for this article and who knows if it will publish?

Anyone else finding this?

 

I've had the same problems on my ipad but not my Anderoid phone or Laptop which is Microsoft. Do you think it is a problem of compatability with Apple?

 

Could the problem be the browser you are using? I used to have the devil's own job with the old site when using IE, but since swapping to Google Chrome, rarely a glitch.

I believe he says Safari which is Apple?
Also, is it not their old os system?

 

Hi Chris, Safari is the browser on iPad or iMac etc. I'm not sure which version it is. I use iOS 7 I think on my ipad. Yes 8 is available but every other site works. Wfcforums.net, which seems to have the same skin as old not606, also works fine.
I run and read other tabs whilst waiting for not606 pages to load. It often takes minutes and then fails.

I always use safari on an iPad (iOS 8) and have had no problems at all - doesn't help I know other than seems unlikely its a general safari problem. Maybe update to version 8 just in case but I can't believe that is the problem. You don't have any restrictions set that affect this site I assume?

I have had server not responding on other sites before but it's usually a problem with my wifi not the site server and obviously you are not having the same issues other than on here. Hope somebody with IT skills can help more!

Andy have you tried accessing not606 anywhere else on your iPad? If it's only slow when you're at home it's probably the DNS settings on your router.

It's not that tricky to change, send me a PM if nothing else works.
