There's been a furious debate over here regarding the minutes silence at our game, as it wasn't totally supported. No blame or finger pointing, but, did the Leeds contingent know there was going to be a minutes silence?
Probably not. But if your tannoy system was loud enough to be heard and silence was called for there is absolutely no excuse for not observing it. The silence we had at the Burton game ( last game before armistace day) was fantastically observed following a bugler sounding the last post.
Over the years I've been at a few games where home supporters thought we disrespected a minutes silence, but where I've seen it happen the problem has been we are a noisey lot and tend to sing outside, coming In the ground and in the ground. The problem usually is fans in the concourse singing on there way into the ground not aware of what's happening in the ground.Games I've been any minutes silence is usually respected by all in the ground.Despite bad reps in the past,we aren't a bunch of sick looneys, with no respect, and most fans coming Leeds would say if they don't gob off and come wearing colours but not looking for trouble they don't get any trouble.
I think you're right, the Leeds fans in the stands were perfect, but some people said the ones making the noise were in the bars under the stands. I'm not judging anyone, but some of our lot are saying that they probably didn't hear the tannoy announcement, which is wrong, it can be heard in every part of the ground. Looks like Gary Monk is turning things round for you.
I was there and those singing were in the concourse and some outside the ground coming in. Some Leeds fans tried to get them to be quiet but couldn't be heard over their singing. In the stand we observed the silence like everyone else. I was pissed off by the noise but they wouldn't have known and you could not hear the tannoy down there. It's a very small area and holds the noise a lot from singing. It was quite lively when I walked through, with beer flying through the air. We gave good applause to the military when then paraded around the pitch at half time.
Thanks, as I said I'm not judging anyone, but there's been some **** about it this end with City fans fighting amongst themselves over it. It's good to have a good away support, it certainly adds to the atmosphere! At least you went home happy!
Yes it was good away day. Stayed in the hotel at the ground and ended up at a northern soul and Motown night in the Delia suite in the evening. The £40 match ticket was a bit steep though. Tell your board the noise was not intentional. Went into town as well in the evening. How many kebab shops do you need in Norwich!
£40! Holy hell, that's too much. Arsenal away tickets last season were £28! Norwich has a bad reputation for trouble at weekends especially in the Prince of Wales and Riverside areas, the Kebab shops are there to make the buggers sick so they stop fighting! I've been to those Motown nights, their generally pretty good!
Phil Hay @PhilHayYEP Nov 5 @KatieVanHowe @OooahhBerardi be fair - it was the supporters in the concourse who didn't know the silence had started who were singing.
