What happened to the Malaysian TV deal for this season? I ask because clubs are not allowed to sell the rights to any Prem game as rules state TV revenue is spread as part of collective bargaining.

Same as last year. Tan bought the rights to show all Cardiff games on his TV channel last year and the money was shared around the clubs. The deal wasn't about filtering money into the club, it was about heightening the profile of Cardiff in Asia.

Not sure if it will be repeated this year. Don't worry though, you'll get your cut.

Project, I would imagine VT will be in discussion with the appropriate officals about the possibility of televising our home games as he did with the football league last season. As to the details I'd suggest you contact the premier league as it is with them he will negotiate any agreement.

But when games are televised; only the home team gets the money anyway (to my knowledge). So, I don't see how it makes a difference if we only show home games.

Arwr, not true, Cardiff City actually get relatively little. VT negotiated a deal last season with the football league, they got the funds and distributed it to the other clubs.

Yep, that's what I said. We made buttons on the deal but got a lot of exposure out east which was Tan's objective.

Ah right, I wasn't aware that the cash was shared around the other league clubs last season because I didn't think there were the same collective bargaining agreements. I was more concerned with about a nasty precedent being set that meant the deal would stay in place, if Cardiff got the cash, which the Premier League would have to honour and thus open the gates for the big clubs to strike their own deals. Thankfully though the deal was with the football league then, can you imagine the likes of Man Utd and Chelsea having their own deals? Our clubs would be right royally screwed.

Cheers for the answers guys, I suppose this thread is done and dusted now. :)

No probs VRD. The FL and PL want to protect the smaller clubs (like us).

England Rugby tried it a few years ago when the were World Champions. They wanted to have sole income from games at Twickenham. I think the conversation went something like 'how are you going to generate income if you haven't got anyone to play against'. They soon backed down.

As you say, Man U, Man City and Chelsea would have an even bigger advantage if they could negotiate their own deals.

And we would end up as some other Leagues such as Spain and Scotland to name but two. In other words footballing monopolies.
