With PJ's imminent departure, who are the real serious contenders to be our next permanent manager? There's the obvious Curbishley, McCarthy and Coyle to consider, but is there anyone else out there? How about recruiting from within? How well could Osman do? I don't think Arry would come, as i have a feeling he could go to Palace, or hold out for the Southampton job. For me, i hope Southampton hurry up and sack Adkins, as i think he'd be ideal.
Stretch, may I suggest a poll. Would make for more tangible evidence as to who we (the not606 fans atleast) would like to see at the healm. Personally I would say Coyle, but I wouldn't be singing from the rooftops I just think he is most suitable out of an average bunch
As has been debated before, the question is (given our current position) Do we give the job to "a safe bet" e.g. McCarthy or take a risk on an up & coming young manager e.g Robinson from MK Dons
How do you do a poll? As for Coyle, i like him, as he comes across very well. Did an excellent job at Burnley, but unfortunately for him not so well at Bolton.. a victim of the second-management-job syndrome (just made that up by the way, but does seem rather apt) I'd like Osman to be given the job on a temporary basis, at least til Christmas, and see how he does, especially with his knowledge of our yoof team (Hyam and Carson might actually get a game then). In the long run, i think Adkins would be ideal, has got Southampton playing exciting football.
I can just imagine it now.......................... Simon Clegg - I would like to annouce the new Ipswich Town manager is a vastly experienced manager who has managed some of the top clubs in England. and here he is RON ATKINSON!
Is it more frightening than... Simon Clegg - I would now like to announce the new Ipswich Town manager...Simon Clegg
I think you can edit the OP and add it that way?? I have to agree with Adkins, it's just a case of do we wait and see if Southampton pull the trigger - although it would be worth asking them the question... I have to say that there are NO SAFE BETS, Yes McCarthy offers the most realistic option but nothing is guaranteed in football and there is nothing to stop him from driving us further down into the ground.
Supers, I think Adkins is only suggested if he was to leave Southampton. He has had a decent run there but is hardly a high profile manager so if he was out of work I wouldnt call it a totally stupid idea. However if anyone names Redknapp I may have to hunt them down and kill them!
I would go for Mick McCarthy. Its no doubt he would shake up the dressing room and not be this "nice guy" PJ was according to our captain. it seems that some of these players need a good old fashioned bollocking. we are bottom of the league but I think we can all agree that we aren't that bad on paper. At the very least McCarthy would get us to play to our true potential. For me Curbishley is too out of touch, been out of the game for 4 years. I would prefer someone who know the players around and has recent success of getting a club promoted. Coyle would be 2nd choice. anyone for di canio???
Do you honestly think di Canio would put up with Clegg? I think that we're looking at this problem from the wrong way round. Who would actually want this job? Have we put an ad up in the jobcentre yet? Drawn straws? **** me we are an utter shambles
err, yeah, but they hadn't just taken a team to back-to-back promotions then had they. his star has risen above yours at this time i'm afraid. he'd walk into just about every championship job going so why plump for ipswich?
