Manchester City could be set to make a move for Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets, according to talkSPORT. Reports in Italy had suggested that Roberto Mancini was keen on bringing in the midfielder to help bolster his options in the middle of the park. The signing of Cesc Fabregas could see Busquets' opportunities limited in the future, meaning City's bid for the club may not be fruitless. Busquets has on occasion been used in the cent of Barcelona's defence in the absence of Carlos Puyol, meaning the Spaniard would be able to lend genuine versatility to City. Having already signed Owen Hargreaves, who has joined Nigel De Jong and Gareth Barry on a long list of a central midfielders, Busquets would have his work cut out to play regulary, however at just 23, City may be looking to the future.
Imagine a line up of: Busquets Nasri Aguero Silva Dzeko Tevez --- Would without a doubt be the best midfield & strike partnership in the world.
To be fair, you don't really look to the future for a 23 year old. He should be nearing his prime pretty soon.
If we could make that signing in the January transfer window and bring in Sergio Busquets that would virtually be the last signing RM could make this season. That is unless he can get rid of the players he knows are surplus to his squad. Then maybe he will make a few more aditions to the squad.
Chelsea are being linked with a big-money transfer battle with Manchester City over Spanish international midfielder Sergio Busquets. The Barcelona star is reportedly set to become the subject of a bidding war between the two Barclays Premier League clubs, with the Etihad Stadium outfit first linked with a £35 million move for the player earlier in the week. Reports in France now claim Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is prepared to rival Roberto Mancini when the transfer window re-opens in January, should the La Liga giants be willing to sell the 23-year-old. With concerns over the long-term fitness of Ghanaian international defensive midfielder Michael Essien, Chelsea are reportedly weighing up their options with regards to cover in the position. Busquets has rapidly risen through the ranks at the Nou Camp to become regarded as one of the world's best in his position, making an impact at both domestic and international level since making his first team debut for the Catalan outfit in 2008. The Spaniard would also add youth to an ageing squad at Stamford Bridge, whilst joining a growing crop of compatriots at Chelsea with Fernando Torres and Juan Mata already in the ranks.
We need to get rid of the players that RM no longer needs 1st.. However I would try and find out 1st from Barca if they are willing to sell, and to see if we can have the 1st option on Sergio, and what sort of fee they want for him.
