We got him from Stuttgart and he has now been promoted to the reserves despite only still being 16 years old. Apparently, Wenger went to watch the reserves yesterday and it was especially so he can watch this player. He is German born but has roots in Ivory Coast and can play for either Germany or Ivory Coast. He is powerful attacking minded midfielder who can play on the right or behind a main forward but CM is his best position. He scored yesterday and was the best player on the pitch despite a few senior players also playing in the reserve game. The last player to play in the reserves at that age and also stand out was Jack Wilshere. With the current boom in German football you can't help but get excited when he have one in our books. He would of been have taught the game in the correct way by the coaches there and he clearly has the natural talent. But he is also built powerfully and that is one of the reasons he did not get phased by the step up yesterday. He could be fast tracked into the Carling Cup squad next year. Like I said, he is one to watch out for.
like it. i maintain my belief that we don't need goetze, and this guy can take over from rosicky when he's ready.
http://www.arsenal.com/reserves-youth/players/thomas-eisfeld He is still there. I think he is going through the new employee training program. Gnabry has been getting good reviews from the reserve fixtures. Certainly seems like a talent.
The fact he's so powerfully built could hinder him tho, up until where he was means he stood out purely because of his size, abit like frimpong, JET etc did. he could be half as good as others, but beats them with pure size and strength Then again he could just be really good, AND big, which would be amazing.
JET was taller then this guy and he was also even more powerfully built. He really did bully the players at youth level. His style of play was to hold players up and then he would make his move. Frimpong has shown his talent in the first team but injuries have stalled his development. Gnabry's progress to reserve level has been a lot quicker than JET's or Frimpong.
They are comparable in that they both have physical strengths combined with the technical skills. Could see both playing in the same team in the Carling Cup next season.
this is like deja vu all over again. I remember these sort of comments when we were talking about a great new player we had just got . Turned out to be Chamakh .
Or these were the sort of comments when we last had a 16 year old impressing in the reserves. That player turned out to be Jack Wilshere.
I think some of the comments are a bit outlandish. The kid is 16. Most 16-year-olds who show talent and promise turn out to not fulfil it to the level of the Arsenal squad ... Wilshere is an exceptional talent. We won't know for a few years whether the kid will good. So let's not go saying stuff like "We don't need Goetze, we have this guy". That's silly logic.
Sidwell, Mathew Connelly,Jay Emmanuel Thomas, Nicholas Bendtner, Denilson, Aliadiere all blown way out of proportion. Some players excel at youth level because physically they are just ahead of their peers. others like Fabregas and Wilshere just excel because they are superior footballers.
Christ i didn't realise that he was still only 16, yes the fact that at that age he has already been shifted into the reserves is obviously a good sign, unless he is a fabregas then i don't think we'll see him even in carling cup games until 2014, maybe some pre season friendlies but even wilshere didn't get a serious run out for us until he had gone to bolton, possibly why next season both miyachi and joel campbell will break into the first team because they have played first team football for at least 6 months this season. But again just shows that at arsenal we are able to spot talent early and develop it.
The dude in the background of the photo looks mean, lets promote him too, thats what I am talking about, scare some boys before a ball is even kicked
Lol thats exactly what i thought. This Gnarby guy is huge for a 16 year old. He is tall and well built. Just look at his neck and that tells you he's a physical beast at 16. Anyways, lets see what he does next season. If he's good enough, Wenger will give him a run in the Carling cup.
I know he's quick. Used to be a runner but chose football instead. Never lost a race to date. Want to see him, Chamberlain, Ryodinho and Theo line up. Would be a cracking sprint.
Thought he was brilliant today. The only player who was willing to go on the front foot and drive at Swansea, he set the tone, and the rest followed in the second half.
