Now the Germans have eventually lost a penalty shoot-out, Bleatter wants Beckenbauer to come up with an alternative. Any of you think of one?
Personally it's a silly idea, the way he makes his point about it being unfair it's as if when they final whistles goes that's when there told they're doing penalty shootout, the teams know the possible outcome could be decided on penalties and they can practise in training. Penalties are a skill and imo can be practised although there is luck involved.
Blatter gets to hide in the stadium and the first team to drag him out onto the pitch and give him a kicking wins. Shows a clear winner and more importantly maintains the same level of adrenaline and excitement to it - It's a huge win win for everyone (except Blatter).
They could always use a point system. For instance, take into account corner kicks won. That would reward the attacking team. The team with the least bookings. Say, 2 points for a yellow and 4 for a red. The team with the least number of points would go through. It MIGHT cut out some of the cynical fouls.
This is more catering to the Barcelona-style mafia who persist in thinking that the team that plays the "best" football somehow "deserve" to win. "best" is, of course, defined in their own terms. It's a load of b0llocks. We play exciting, attacking football, but I still have respect for the teams that put in incredible defensive efforts like Chelsea this year. They deserved it. I'm sick of Blatter trying to manipulate the game all the time
How about 90 minutes plus 30 minutes extra time as now, then if still undecided an undefined period of play to the death, first goal scored in additional extra time wins it! Survival of the fittest!
I think they should just keep playing until the feckers score. Keep extra-time exactly as it is, then if there is still no goal, it should go to sudden-death.
Are they pissed off that Chelsea won the champions league by any chance? Fact is. It isn't fair But that's the point, football isn't always fair.
