Has everyone seen this? Was the ref right or wrong? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16300956.stm It's better than what Dida did but still its got to be a red card.
I think he would've got away with it if he hadn't started kicking the guy while he was on the floor and no threat, hard not to react when someone tries to jump you though. The ref is probably right, after all the fan is going to end up in trouble anyway.
Dangerous route to go down hauling your team off in protest, but I personally think on this occassion it was the right one. Players should be allowed to defend themselves to the maximum if attacked by a fan. If that means continueing to kick lumps out of him to keep him on the floor, then thats what he should do. I personally think England should have walked off in protest when we last played spain away and all you could hear on the tv was racist monkey noises. Should have made a statement by condemning how unacceptable it is by walking off. Same situation here, make a statement by how stupid it was to send off a player being attacked by a fan for defending himself and lashing back out at a guy who shouldn't be anywhere near him. Same way that ref shouldn't be anywhere near a professional game of football for a long time. Common sense has to prevail and the penny has to drop for this morons officiating.
