It's a reflection of the game nowadays mate.
SJH didn't great for us but his legacy was (albeit magnified by Shepherd) a lot of debt.
Arab and Russian money has, I fear changed the game forever.

Nothing lasts forever ACS, the bubble will burst money wise, but sadly not for a long time yet. Not really a sad day for the region bonny because as Newcastle fans we knew to expect days like this 3 years ago when we sold Andy Carroll.

They were mega days when KK sold Andy Cole and brought in Shearer, we were so fu*kin jealous but knew it was massive for North East football. Without it no Irish Consortium or Ellis Short. John Hall, love him or hate him put us all back on the map.Met him down here at Xmas in Winyard, what a cracking lad. Nice ordinary fella. Hope to take a point Saturday, stay up and Wembley, be lovely.

Personally I don't think we are a selling club.
Its very rare we actually sell any player that we don't want to.
All clubs sell players whether its the natural evolution of a squad or a bid comes in that cant be knocked back.
Our problem is that Ashley won't invest to make that push into the very top echelon of clubs.
Had he been prepared to go the extra yard in this transfer window, we might have narrowed the gap, but as seems likely, that wont happen.

As it stands both clubs are there to make up the numbers for the rich clubs to have a league to compete in. If that's being also rans, I would agree with you.

Aye, fab times. He was first and foremost a fan.
It would be great for a couple of North east billionaires to magically appear and shake the footballing hierarchy by putting us both on the map.

I'd be more concerned if we were bullied into selling players on the cheap or if players were sitting out their contracts (or threatening to do so to get a cheap move).

Realistically there are 10-20 clubs in Europe who can have any players they want from the other teams and the only thing the rest of us can do is make sure we don't get bullied into selling for a low price. £20m+? That will do. Indeed for us and our aspirations it's money we could invest well.

We are more fortunate than most as we have Graham Carr, a Geordie magician when it comes to unearthing gems.

Remy out for 3 games, Ben Arfa possibly injured, Cabaye gone. Who the f.ck is going to score goals for us now? De Jong will need bedding in due to lack of match time so the Mackems will be really up for this one.
Hoping for a calibre signing before Friday.

I think you're getting a bit carried away there.

It's got nothing to do with not being able to resist transfer bids for our best players - Newcastle United could easily afford to keep players like Yohan Cabaye or Andy Carroll. The fact is that our owner wants to cash-in on high transfer fees because it speeds up the repayment of his 'loan' to the club.

    Once he's reclaimed it all, i'm hopeful he'll sell-up.

Trouble is, he's already got people backing his 'financial strategy' and could probably spin this out for decades to come... and you'll like it.

Boiled my pi$$ this morning, Rob Lee claiming we're a "selling club", it's fcking horsesh1t. We're upcycling every step of the way, we constantly reinvest money we get where we can in improving the squad. We do not have the commercial revenue to carry two first elevens like the top 4 or 5 can. But our first eleven has been strengthened consistently and will continue to be under our current strategy. We have never been progressively "worse" since being promoted. I remember there was loads of moaning and whinging when Nolan and Barton were let go. Don't really need to remind anyone how those two compare to Yohan Cabaye and Vurnon Anita.

I watched Sammy Ameobi terrorise Norwich last night and the lad is second or third choice for us in his position. We're also looking to strengthen there anyway with Cabella. I have no doubt Ashley wants repayment - the sooner the club owes no-one, the more there is to spend on players (or has that simple fact ALSO been overlooked??). But we have constantly upgraded on playing staff. All this fcking whinging - yeah, we've really missed Andy Carroll, or at least the injury room and the quayside has; our move away from route one has been awful to see. Oh wait, no it hasn't.

Gutted we had to put up with Cabaye instead of Barton. And I can't believe we sold Simpson and had to stick Debuchy in there, disgrace, sack the board, et cetera. It's a shambles all we could do was loan Loic Remy, what a bad choice that was. It could go on, but the only negatives around the club are the fcking fans at the moment.
