The senior players literally pleaded with Acun to not sack Rosenior. Do think it's a strange decision to get rid of him, especially with no one lined up. If he doesn't get this next appointment right, the crowd will turn on him very, very quickly.
****'s sake City. It's ****ing embarrassing. Yes, the football was dire, but as i said a while back, it doesn't matter. We were in a results business, and we scraped through with what we needed to do. We had very little in the way of attacking output, and if you can't score goals, then the VERY least you can do is set up to not concede, and Selles definitely did that. The worst part, is that we weren't playing in Selles preferred way, he was just doing whatever we needed to do to survive with the squad we had. He likes to play direct attacking football, but he didn't have the players to do it.
I think this is an absolute joke of a decision - and to some regards worse than the one last season. The majority of fans who turned against Tim Walter did so because they criticised him for not changing tactics to deal with the fact that we had poor attacking options. Selles changed that and made us difficult to score against. Gelhardt became our best attacking outlet in the second half of the season and I just didn’t think Lincoln was up to it. What did you want Selles to do? Acun needs to look around the Championship and realise that being ‘innovative’ in this league is rarely rewarded with promotion. The clubs without parachute payments pick a strategy and stick with it. We are about to enter his third pre-season - each with a different manager to the last (and with an extra Selles in there). It’s not going to work. We need all the stars to align to get promoted that way and I just don’t think we’ll be that lucky. On that point too - the fans need consistency to be able to relate to the team. It was starting to come in 2024 - but then it was ripped up that summer to start again. We don’t know the players and we don’t know the manager: that’s not how you get an atmosphere and it’s not how you throw together a team playing attacking football. I fear we are in for a relegation next season unless Acun swallows his ego and lets the football staff do the football. He’s **** at it and doesn’t understand his market or the division.
do we know for sure nobody is lined up? not had time to read every comment, but seen a few keep saying we dont have anybody lined up. its not even officially been announced the sacking yet has it? not going to announce replacement before that...
Baz has said there isn’t anyone definitive yet but the sacking means the process will pick up speed quickly and doesn’t expect it to go on as long as before.
The problem is, there are a few clubs looking for managers too, that would be more appealing options - WBA, Norwich, Southampton
On the point of Acun leaving it to the ‘football people’ - are we sure this isn’t a decision made by the ‘football people’? It was very clear that Ruben was Jared Dublin’s man when he was appointed. Nearly everyone that was considered had previously worked with him previously in some capacity. People ‘ITK’ on this forum even said so at the time. Are we seriously suggesting that Acun is solely responsible for sacking managers but that he’s having no say in the hiring of them?
