No dramas and proven ability at the top level - what's not to like.

Who would you sell Rooney to is the problem?
His wages are far too ridiculous for most clubs.
We were sniffing around last summer before he was put on ****** wages, but we have just signed Costa.
City would be the only option, if they would have him.

(Dont even mention abroad, there is no way Rooney is ever playing abroad)

Selling Roo would be a good option.

Chavs will have him, but as Bod says he will not go abroard and London is not in England anymore <laugh>

I REALLY wouldnt want him to be honest.
Whether Jose would go for him again though is a different matter. But he's not for Chelsea imo.

No one was that keen on Sanchez before. He has been fab for Chile but hes no Rooney (or Suarez). He is just a fairly talented winger but wouldn't be anywhere near the players mentioned in terms of goal scoring, but his attitude may be better!

Every WC you get one player who gets hyped to **** after a couple of good performances, this time round it's Sanchez.

Good player, but no World beater

With LVG's familiarity with RVP I just see another season of dramas with Rooney. I would rather be rid than have him become a disruptive influence during the most critical season for years. Granted, sanchez can't offer his overall talents, but we are strengthening in those areas where Rooney has been required to put in a shift, and so the focus will be more on a striker = Sanchez

This thread reminds me of Zidane's comments back in 2003 when Real sold Makelele and bought Beckham. What's the point of buying another layer of gold paint for the Bentley if you are selling the whole engine?

Rooney is the most consistently productive player in the PL. Even in his 'poor' seasons like 10/11 and 12/13 he averages a goal or assist in every game he starts, despite rarely being played as the main striker. He even managed 17 goals and 10 assists in 27 starts last season when our team as a whole was ****.

He may not be as exciting and show stopping as some players, but he's been vital to our success in recent years, and I shudder to think whereabouts in the bottom half we'd have ended up last year without him. Not worth the risk of selling him - if we really want him then we should just buy Sanchez outright out of our £200 billion war chest of pirate gold that is sitting somewhere in the bowels of Old Trafford. But tbh I'm not entirely convinced by him - he could just end up being another Nani in the PL.

But where will the other £29m come from? <whistle>

Seriously, though, it's a good shout. Arsenal are after him, and, if the rumours are to be believed, so are we. Great player. Potential world-beater.

A lot of so called "World Beaters" have joined the prem, with a lot of under achievement

Veron, Forlan, and Massimo were 3 duds we bought, and the rest of the prem are just as guilty. sometimes its better to stick with what you have got
