Lots of sympathetic Tweets over the last 24 hours from fans of other clubs. The common opinion being expressed is that Duchatelet is insane What did we do to deserve this dog butt ? Perhaps Judas could tell us ??
He hasn’t spoken in public about Charlton since February 2018. Twelve months. The Cardigan Collective on CL still seem strangely reluctant to criticise him
It was reported on TalkSport that Duchatelet has demanded that the EFL buys CAFC, and that Roland recently turned down an offer of £30m+ The report said that Duchatelet wants to recover all of the money he has spent since buying the Club, and he will not accept any offer lower than £70 million. RD is barking mad for sure. How could any sane person expect somebody else to pay them back every penny they wasted mismanaging a football club for five years and leaving it relegated and with half its fans gone. I hope the EFL come back and state publicly that Duchatelet is no longer a fit and proper person to own a football Club in this country.
It’s possible that Duchatelet’s terrible pigeon English has been misunderstood (again), and that he is making the point that the EFL should buy Charlton as they are the only organisation capable of passing their own FPP test. I’m not sure what this further says about the hapless, time wasting, attention seeking Aussies? Muir & Co appear to have entered a game of poker with Duchatelet, holding only a pair of Twos. They have bluffed for over a year, and clearly lost. Their try -hard cheerleaders should perhaps now persuade Gerard “Busy” Murphy to officially withdraw from their joint bid to ruin our football club, with the last 1% of his tattered credibility intact. PS - it’s noteworthy that two particularly vocal Aussie cheerleaders - both long term foghorns, not newbies like...err, were the same two right up Murray’s backside long after he started ruining the club. Funny that.
According to Twitter, the latest club accounts show the debt owed to Duchatelet has risen from £57m to a whopping £62m !! How on earth is the club worth even a tenner based on these shocking figures ?!
Do ITTV still call it friendly debt? Similar to what the Yanks call friendly fire. Is there potentially any good outcome to our situation?
Reducing losses to zero - and presumably then beginning to run CAFC for a profit - is the agenda now. Clearly this is on course. Monthly losses have been slashed from £1 million to only a quarter of that. Since RD is not going to sell, I don't really see that it matters how much the Club owes him. It's his decision to continue taking losses.
That profit was from player sales, not cost cutting. There won't be a £10+ million player to sell every season. So the Club has to be run in a sensible manner. Nobody likes cost cutting, but we all have to live within our means.
Yes, and pre-Roland our annual operating loss was between £6.1m and £7.8 million (in the 5 years before 2016). Roland's mismanagement, in particular his offering long expensive contracts to Thomas Driesen's recommendations, has driven up the losses.
I assume Duchatelet is not going to want to write off his staggering £62m debt ?? Making his retention of the Valley and Sparrows Lane far more like IMO, and making a sale all the more improbable. The hole just felt slightly deeper today.
We're heading in the right direction Costs going down, the team going up. And under our best manager (after 50 games) since Jimmy Seed. There's plenty to feel good about right now...
