Just logged in to twitter to see a campaign to get BWP back on it. Apparently(key word) he deleted his account after some CAFC fans used it to abuse him after the Oldham match.

14 league goals, helping us to lead the pack by 5 points.. And some still find it plausible to insult him?

Saw this earlier Super. Pretty disgusting really, he had a bad game yes - but NOT due to lazyness! It was bad luck, every time he went for a shot there were 3 players in the way, he almost rounded the keeper but the keeper got a finger to it. Other than bad luck, the defenders hoofing the ball 20 foot in the air above him didn't help his cause much. Genuinely disgusted that we have fans so stupid as to abuse our most important player, let alone accuse him of being lazy just because he didn't score.

What the ****??? Jesus how crazy are some fans, we'd be no where this season without his goals

Would people prefer see us up front this season with the prolific Izale McLeod and Andy Gray who for about £3m could only have dreamed of scoring 14 goals over a number of seasons for us.

They must be Palarse fans SURELY??

Can scarcely believe I'm reading this.

Don't these morons realise that not only is he a tremendous player and well on his way to being the first 20 goal Charlton striker in goodness knows how long, but there's the little matter of the contract extension to consider as well? Really good time to be putting him off us...

Hope BWP reads not606 - I think he'd get a better idea of what fans think of him on here.

    Disgraceful.

It's such a shame- it was only a couple weeks back that Ian wright tweeted a fan back saying how much BWP was enjoying it with us.

Shall we target kermo or Morrison next?

Twitter is a waste of time .... keyboard warriors love it though as it gives them the chance to abuse people more fortunate than themselves

It's another form of bullying a player, (in this case a very young player who's still learning his trade and excelling at it), when it's totally unjustified. Some of these people need to take a good look at themselves. BWP tried his best to score and very nearly did at the start of the 2nd half, at least commend the effort he was also closely marked up to the point obstruction in that game. I think these sorts of fans don't want the club to do well or go up and are dragging it backwards, the sooner they go the better.

    Morons or non CAFC fans.

We can't go up without BWP. We haven't had a goalscorer like him in 5 years.

The hardest player to replace in the current CAFC first XI.

I don't use Twitter and not sure why the players do either?

Simple answer, Club to tell all players to stop using twitter

I've often thought this, why open yourself up to abuse from these people. Was it Leeds that stopped players using it for their own good?

Twitter probably does a world of good when we win - fans message players telling them they played great, it makes them feel good about themselves, they continue playing great. Yet when we lose, the reverse happens, they get abuse, they wonder why their own fans are abusing them, they possibly even consider whether they wish to be at the club.

It is strange though, when BWP received abuse from Hartlepool fans he retweeted it and laughed at them, but when its his own fans he apparantly closes twitter.

Because we're talking about people who can't give constructive feedback, all they offer is negative and personal abuse as part of their reaction to a game and then have their scapegoat.

Footballers are human after all but surely they can control who can post and what on twitter. I don't use or like it so wouldn't really know.

Agree, Salford - we may be able to get away with losing him for a couple of games if he gets a knock (we've already done it once this season) but not for very much longer than that - especially if Benson finally completes his move to Swindon in January. I know Benson's not everybody's cup of tea, but he is (or maybe was) a natural goalscorer and a natural replacement. As much as I'd like to see Smith break through, he may not be ready to take on this role for a while.

Yes since Davide Somma leaked information about his injury. I'm glad to be honest, it's cringeworthy how all the fawning oddballs suck up to their teams' players on Twitter, and it provides a platform for footballers to look even more like thick, mouthy morons.

Good managers (think back to Curbs) play down victories, keeping down excitement, while taking the positives from defeats to keep team spirit up.

Fans on the other hand go OTT in their excitement when their team wins, then turn into a bunch of abusive pricks when the team loses!

I know who I'd prefer our players to listen to...

I'm quite the fan of twitter myself, the official CAFC twitter feed is awesome at games I can't make, but this is a problem not just with football players, its all over twitter unfortunately. People seem to think its there God giving right to tell a celebrity what they think of them, 9 times out of 10 being something personal and abusive they heard in a tabloid! The internet is full of bully's who hide behind computer screens, with any luck BWPs will know its just a few idiot's and not the fans who take great delight in singing how much better then shuan he is <ok>
