Two new strikers have been signed because we failed to score in our opening game and what happens we score 4 goals. I guess for the manager he will now have the hard decision on does he keep the winning team or bring in the two new strikers. Given how he played I cant see how you can drop Taylor who was unlucky to only get one as a few inches different and he could of had a hattrick. I'm hoping we start Taylor and Baldock up front on Saturday. and... hopefully a lot of the boo boys will now give Woolford some breathing room who was outstanding last night and was unlucky not to get motm
You will always get booooooooooooooo boys, no matter how a player performs, I always rated Taylor bit delicate but if he manages 23 games and scores 15 goals he will have done his stuff. The one thing we need to do is mop up teams of a lesser ilk than us, something we have failed to do in the past few years. Any team in the bottom 8 must be regarded as 5 points ave; middle 8 ave 4 pts; top 8 ave 3 pts...hey ho thats 96 points and automatic promotion......... Not had any bets this season as the last 2 have made a bit of a killing.......well into 3 figures.....and the division looks wide open, a bit like our first season back up!!!!!
We're in the position now that if Taylor does get injured we'll now have hungry players that are more than happy to take his place. If (god forbid) Tayor gets an injury then Pitman, Stead, Davies or Baldock can now take his place. Hell, if we end up with three injured strikers we can still field a 4-4-2 with ease. We're now so plentiful in attacking options that it'd be interesting to see if the likes of Pitman or Davies could play in an advanced midfield role just behind the two strikers, maybe as our long sought after "creative" midfielder. It'd be one way of solving that problem.
If you're a manager it's this sort of decision that makes or breaks you but Del has the luxury of a bigger squad now, although Davies, Baldock and co shouldn't be automatic choices because they are new. As I've said elsewhere, Taylor, having scored last night, deserves to at least start against Cardiff.
