My partner's brother is a native of Bergen and supports their local team Brann. He recently emailed us with this story about Seji, who played for Brann in 2003-4. A local kid who followed Brann, also held Seji up as a hero. However, the boy was going off the rails and causing his family and social workers loads of grief. In hope and desperation the boy's father contacted Seji through the football club. Imagine this kid's surprise when, a week later, he opened the front door to see Seji standing there. Seji had a long talk with the young boy about football, family, friends and life in general. He told the kid to listen to his parents and to attend school. He left him with signed shirts and posters. The upshot is that the young lad got stuck in, kept out of trouble with the police from then on. My brother-in-law is a social worker in Bergen and this tale is now legendary there. Good one Seji!!!!
Nearly froze my nuts off in Bergen in 1975. Only spent one night in dock, before moving on to Narvik. Minus 18 was ok but the wind chill added some to it and it was not nice to say the least.
Nice story, it's good to hear positive news connected with football, which often never gets reported by the press. Nice one Seyi.
