Sky Sports sources understand that Tottenham Hotspur defender Sebastien Bassong has agreed to sign for Norwich City. We will have more on this story shortly.

I think thats a good signing for us personally.

    Thoughts?

Think that's a brilliant signing, was a top centre half when he was at Newcastle. I struggle to think how we would afford his wages though. Unless he taken a wage cut because I imagine at Spurs he was on at least 40k a week. Although I do not know official figures.

Think this would be a top signing myself.

He played for Wolves second half of last season...........

If he recaptures his form from Newcastle (which I think if he plays regularly) he will be a great signing.

He will help send you down as he did Wolves last season
Thanks for signing him before Hughes made another mistake for us <ok>

i'm afraid i'm not a big fan of bassong but as always with any new signing, i'm willing to get behind him and give him my full support. he does possess pace which is something we lack a little in the centre half slots, but his concentration would be a concern for me.

he's better than ward, martin and barnett in my opinion, so he does improve the squad no doubt. based on reputation alone he's probably a £3-4m player, so from that respect its something of a coup, just seen issues with his game that worry me.

Is he costing anything or is he out of contract?

was bassong at newcastle while hughton was manager? if so, that's a good thing. he did extremely well for the geordies, ending with an £8m move to spurs if i remember correctly.

He was their player of the year in 08/09, think that was when they went down however and Spuds signed him that summer so Hootun wasn't technically his manager, but he certainly would have worked with him which, as you say, is a good sign <ok>

i just don't rate the lad sadly. i fear its a panic signing but we shall see - he has good pedigree but some of the things i've seen from him could cause major problems for us. i think he improves the squad but i'm not sure he improves the first team <ok>

He was there while Hughton was coach, technically Hughton did manage him but sold him before the season starts.

Seems like another version of barney <ok> Not sure on this to be honest, willing to give him a chance but im hoping we get the bassong of 2-3 years ago and not last season!

he was awful last season at wolves and all spurs fans i know think he is a nightmare. certainly the times i've seen him he has been a liability. i wouldn't say he's rubbish - he has ability but its his concentration which is dreadful. i don't get the feeling he's an intelligent player. i just hope this doesn't push bennett onto the bench as he DOES possess intelligence on the field.

    Ellers in peace
No bragging rights, as we both got tonked on Saturday and both sets of fans are concerned. However all i can say is i'm glad you guys got him and not us. My Spurs mate said he will be on the floor more than on his feet. So i'm glad MH did not waste the money.
Anyway have not come to stir as after saturdays result i'm not in the mood. <ok>

I do not honestly know much about him but if he improves the team (assuming he does get playing time) then all well and good. As long as I don't have to close my eyes when he is near the ball (as I sometimes do with Barnett <laugh>), I will be happy enough for now <ok>

Definitely better than Barnett, hasn't really impressed since his move to spurs but was highly rated when at Newcastle. You don't get Daniel Levy to part with £8m for nothing.
