Seb played in the u21s last night. Rodders managed to raise his game for a couple or games with improved but hardly spectacular performances but quickly fizzled out to his usual ineffective self. Seb has to step above him in the pecking order as soon as he's fit. With Cats on his way back too we should pack a little bit more bite and competence in midfield. I mean neither are world beaters Seb in particular and it's sad we need players like him back but I think he will improve us none the less. Hope he's fit soon, he can pass a ball for starters so Ndong needs him as we try to forge a midfield that can play a bit more and not surrender possession constantly.

What you reckon? Clutching maybe but anybody pushing Jack Rodwell down the pecking order has to be a good thing surely?

yep I reckon clutching at straws.

Seb is bang average in my opinion but way way way better than Rodders. A traffic cone, not being derogatory to traffic cones there I hope, would be better than him,

I've always liked Sebs work rate, him and Catts back will help enormously I reckon.

Good to have him back. Good character and workrate, we seem to have been missing leaders and Catts and Seb can get things organised and moving a bit whilst not being the best players in the world. Can go a long way to getting points which we obviously haven't been doing! Cheers for the info Bri

Larsson back is good. He's not the greatest player in the world but he gives us different options and he works hard.

Rodwell is nowhere near as bad as he's made out to be. He looks like his confidence is shot but in the last two games he's made some very good tackles and played some excellent passes. There's a player in there.

I see Rodwell as the opposite of Cattermole. One, for some reason, is popular so his deficiencies are overlooked. One, for some reason, is unpopular so anything good he does is overlooked.

Brings a bit of competition for starting places. Bigger for me though is Seb's passion; certainly more of a leader than any of the current starting eleven.

I'd play Larsson over Rodwell so this is good news. With the new rules about players not being able to get in the refs face Seb should save energy on finger wagging.

All ''lesser'' teams have these players --- but as you say -- hard work and organisation from these players can sometimes make the difference

Seb has been fine for us and we have bought players to move to the next level.
These players haven't cut the mustard and we need players like SEB and catts back in the team to steady the ship.
These players are not world beaters but I think there are better than Rodwell

How many players do you have out at the moment? Is it a defence of Moyes if loads are out?

I'd say so. There's only so much you can expect from a guy working with half of a team.

I think all you can judge Moyes on at this point is his media personality which is a car crash, and his signings which so far look hit and miss but some of the ones he didn't sign are letting the club down just as much IMOOC.

I notice Moyes has been moaning again about United by the way, you'd think he has more pressing issues.

"Do Mourinho and Van Gaal's struggles put my reign in context? I am glad you are saying that, because I have always felt that. I felt that it would take time, but it is football."

And most importantly the way we set up and perform on match day which is very unconvincing. A good manager can take a bunch of bang average players and get them playing to the best of their ability, we are a million miles away from that.

The media stuff and debatable signings are just side notes to that.

I wish he'd shut up about that, if he's asked about it just say "I'm not here to talk about that". It shows he's still bitter and possibly isn't fully focused on the task at hand.

My thoughts are the same mate. He is being paid to manage your club and he seems to have forgotten that already.

Bang on mate. Rodwell could be 8 outta 10 all season and the sheep like folk who follow SAFC would have digs.

My general thought is that they don't ever go to games, he's still been not good enough but he's been far better and covered a lot of ground off the ball etc, you don't see that on streams and MOTD though.

Funny thing, Seb always used to be the one getting the exact same **** Rodwell gets before we signed Rodwell.

Always had to be one singled out though, boils my absolute piss.

I don't mind Seb, but he's a lot of blow and no show and has incredibly limited impact on games.

He did score a free kick about 6 year back mind.
