Now we know where we will be playing next season, how long before we learn what prices will be? Will there be a steep hike in costs? Will there be a return to staggered payments? What should the club do now?
Late May early June I expect Probably around a 5%-7% increase to take account of the VAT rise since last season and being in a higher division No idea, just get a interest free credit card for 6-12 months and use that to pay for it, then pay it off in installments yourself D-I-S-C-O !!
Like the disco part. Though I would have to sit/stand and watch the younger element. Credit card purchases are a no go for me and my family unfortunately but I am not likely to be able to see many games myself anyway. Would still be nice to know as soon as possible so can think about getting a couple in August anyway.
I am expecting at least a 20% rise. Good thing is you know money will be re-invested in players. The installment thing should be scrapped as it costs the club money: . The finance company takes a cut . People pay the first installment and then cancel the direct debit and keep going.
But there will definitely be season tickets next season, so just take this season's price and add 10% for budget planning purposes and you won't be that far away. Not a go at you, but does bemuse me a little that some fans can't really plan ahead if they are serious about getting a season ticket.
I truly do not think that the pay over time type season ticket will ever come back. That is because it was heavily abused for what ever reason. I had heard that a credit company were interested in taking the task on. Whether it would have meant that the charges they would make outwayed the benefit of a season ticket I wouldn't know.
Although unlikely/not going to happen, it would be nice if the club froze the prices for our loyalty...at least a small rise for the VAT rise and for existing ticket holders.
I started saving for next season's season ticket last August after I had bought this season's season ticket. ã35 a month into a savings account at the building society and no worries. It's called forward planning. After last years confusion over the deferred payment scheme and it being scrapped anyone who can't find ã450 at one go should have started saving straight away. I can't tolerate whingers and bleeding hearts so no sob stories please from people who can't organise the most important part of their life by ensuring they have the money to watch the Saints..
PS An old bloke who sits behind me at St Mary's gets up early everyday no matter what the weather to do a paper round the money from which he then saves for his seaon ticket and has a little left over for cup games.
I'm not surprised by that story Godders, a season ticket is a massive part of people's lives and I'm lucky enough at my young age that as my Birthday is in August - mine has been a present (half paid for) by parents...I'm always happy to pay the other half
Well I guess you all are getting nervous as to what the increases are likely to be. I guess you can almost work it out. Firstly there is a 2.5% increase for the vat increase. There will be a need to increase prices by inflation 4 %. There will be a need to increase prices to cover Pay increases for the players moving up to a higher league approx 4% there will be additional policing costs next year 1% incidentals 2%. Total 13.5% increase or as near as I can spit. That is probably nearer the mark in my opinion. That is the price (excuse the pun) for promotion. Prize money is not exactly going to come to much is it for Leage one. Brighton will get maybe about ã800,000 We will be lucky to get ã500,000.
Sure tickets and ST will go up in price. The club has to pay its way and progress. Can't come to many matches due to work, but willing to pay a bit more money for, hopefully, better football. Looking forward to the day I fully retire when a ST will be my first purchase.
