Just like match ratings, but over the season!

Davis-7.5, remember his penalty saves from Silva and RVP! Longest serving player, and although makes some errors, has done himself justice.
Boruc-8, shaky start with some controversy, but a vital penalty save and has kept us in some games.

Clyne-8, Been a mainstay all year, gets forward and back, and great prospect!
Hooiveld-7, Many own goals and some clumsy error have shadowed some great defensive work, dealing with Suarez comes to mind.
Yoshida-7.5, Grown in quality as he settles. Bad start, but a great display in the Man City win and more great preformances let him keep his place in the keep.
Fonte-7.5, recently got a chance after being out, his goals against Fulham were great and some solid preformances from Jose.
Shaw-8.5, slightly injury prone, but still young, and is our best prospect, been quality this season and deserves a high rating.
Fox-5, bad marking, laziness and a stupid red card caps off an awful season for Fox.

Puncheon-8, would've liked to see him play more, but some very important goal against City, Sunderland, Reading, and QPR. Constantly threatening, plus his goal of the season against Stevenage.
Schneiderlin-9, scooped two award and has the most interceptions in the league. Has caught many people's eye and has a great future at Southampton.
Cork-8 missed the start of season, but as Rickie said, his return was a turning point in our season, pairing up with Schneiderlin in the centre of the park.
Ward-Prowse-7, played well in the first game of the season and has made impressive from the bench, but not played enough to get high rating
Ramirez-7.5, has bags of talent, and has shown it this season in places. But a high price tag, and not being a team player drags him down.
Lallana-8, tricky one, hasn't really scored much, but a few assists and being a good club captain, plus many good performances is key!
S.Davis-7.5/8, I'm a big fan of him in all honesty, work hard, scored against city twice, has a good touch. But he does give it away sometimes.

Guly-6, no goals, not really brought much to the side. I like him for all he's done for us, but can't cut it in the Prem.
Jay Rod-8, great goals against Liverpool and Chelsea, improved massively throughout the year. Wasn't good out wide, but more central under Mauricio and he's great. Good buy.
Mayuka-7, not played much, but has looked energetic and fast, and very nearly scored today.
Lambert-9, Joint top English scorer, we all know he deserves a call up. Passed 100 goals for Saints this year and is a talisman for us. Where would we be without him?

It's been a great season and I'm really looking forward to next year. COYS!

Lallana has gone a bit backwards IMHO. Today was a good example, some nice stuff, but he's really lacking confidence in and around the penalty area and trying to do too much. His corners have been poor too.

Agreed, touches of genius let down by final product. Should have punished them when he nicked the ball just outside the area but kind of tripped over it!

As for ratings Joe's are pretty much spot on for me, although Morgan comes so close to getting a 10, just been incredible all year, lost count of the number of interceptions he made today, his anticipation is ridiculously good.

I'd do one for Portsmouth, but there'd be so many names that it'd take ages to scroll down to read them all.

Rated every player who has made a PL appearence for us this season:

Kelvin Davis - 6, Did what he had to do, has taken more of a backseat role but still very inspirational and does a job when required
Artur Boruc - 7, Poor start to the season, but improved massively to be a key player for us
Paulo Gazzaniga - 6, Looked bereft of confidence by the end of his spell in the side, but looked promising

Nathaniel Clyne - 7.5, What a good player. Attacks very well, defends very well and generally has done very well this season
Jos Hooiveld - 6, Great determination to come back form a horrific start to be a mainstay in the side in 2013
Jose Fonte - 7, Has made the step up very well, and despite a shaky start, has looked comfortable
Maya Yoshida - 7, Calm influence on the ball ... keeps improving
Danny Fox - 4, Oh dear, very poor season from the LB. Doesn't look like improving any time soon
Frazer Richardson - 5, Was expecting him to feature more but evidently isn't thought of as PL. Did ok when he did play
Luke Shaw - 8, Great debut season for the youngster, more to come from him

Morgan Schneiderlin - 9, Awesome season. Technically gifted, and has really improved his attacking nature.
Steven Davis - 7, Took a while to get going after injury, but is a steady player who does his job and does it well.
Gaston Ramirez - 6, The guy is undoubetdly talented, but he hasn't fitted into our system just yet
James Ward-Prowse - 6, Expected big things of him start of season, but faded into the background a bit. Still making an impact though
Jack Cork - 8, Unsung hero of the side. Was missed big time when out injured
Adam Lallana - 7, Has made the step up well, has been promoted to the England squad and is a player who still has yet to reach his peak
Guly - 6, Did his job steadily. Hasn't done anything spectacular, but feel his time with us is at an end.
Richard Chaplow - 5, Has barely played and the little chance he had, he looked out of his depth.
Ben Reeves - 6, Looked ok in his 3 PL appearences, but feel his time with Saints is nearing its end.
Steve De Ridder - 5, Surprisingly made a few PL appearences, but didn't make much of an impact
Jason Puncheon - 7, Big improvement from the winger, looks a class act who can unlock defences.

Rickie Lambert - 7, Has made the transition well, and looks a capable PL goal-scorer.
Jay Rodriguez - 6.5, Took a while to find his feet, but is showing real promise as of late
Billy Sharp - 5, Made a few brief PL appearences before being surprisingly farmed out on loan. Won't be back
Emmanuel Mayuka - 4, Expected big things but has been one large let down.

Just noticed - rating Shaw higher than Clyne? Not sure myself. I think you have bumped his rating due to his age!

Boruc - 8.5. We needed him, badly.
Davis - 7. Had some slip-ups, but overall probably about average.
Gazzaniga - 5.5. Shot-stopping: good. Composure: not good.

Clyne - 8. How many fullbacks can you name that start 34 games, win as many tackles as he does, and pick up just two yellows? Would be higher if he could sort out his studs.
Hooiveld - 6. Got more steady as the year progressed, but when he made mistakes they tended to be very costly.
Yoshida - 6.5. Definitely settled. Still can be prone to the odd moment of panic, though.
Fonte - 6. Solid, mostly. He's the king of the handball shout, which is a constant source of worry.
Shaw - 8. Shouldn't be that good at that age.
Fox - 3.5. Not good when there are perhaps a handful of games where he didn't look totally out of place.

Cork - 8.5. One of the keys in our turnaround.
    Schneiderlin - 9. Godly.
Davis - 7. Finishing disappoints at times, and he sometimes makes the wrong decision in possession, but can pick a pass.
Ramirez - 6.5. Still think that he'll be a very, very classy player for us, if he's here next year. But as yet he hasn't clicked.
Lallana - 6.5. He's been somewhat disappointing. Rating is relative to expectations; he's still a good player, but he needs to be a bit more decisive...too often he'll get into a dangerous position, square up, make three or four moves while the defense settles and then dink a ball into an area littered with opposition players. Pull it back to the penalty spot every so often, Adam!
Puncheon - 7.5. A real surprise; didn't think that he'd be good enough. May not be an every-game starter going forward, but he's very valuable.
JWP - 7. He'll come good. Needs to get stronger.
Guly - 6. Doesn't score, not the greatest passer, but has reinvented himself as a fairly decent possession-oriented, defensively-sound forward.

Lambert - 8. Tailed off, possibly played too much. But on his day there's no one more influential.
Rodriguez - 7.5. Most-improved under Poch. Think he'll be even more dangerous next year.
Mayuka - 4.5. Still has the talent, just needs to prove that he deserves to play.

It's difficult to give ratings without bias.
Based on previous seasons & transfer fees etc
So just picked who I think is best from each position.

    Top Keeper - Boruc

    Top Defender - Clyne

    Top Midfielder - Morgan

    Top Wide/Creative - Puncheon

    Top Striker - Lambert

Let's do a team of the season, why not?

    -------------Boruc-------------
    Clyne---Fonte---Yoshida---Shaw
    ---------Cork---Schneiderlin----
    Puncheon----Davis----Rodriguez
    -----------Lambert-------------

Shame to leave Lallana and Ramirez out of that, but it was a close call.

Davis - 5 was horrible as a goalkeeper most of the time he played, I'm upping his rating because he probably does some good work behind the scenes
Boruc - 8 was a very good goalkeeper once he was fit
Gazzaniga - 5 not really that promising

Clyne - 8 Excellent player who played excellently for most of the season
Fonte - 7 I really like Fonte although he hasn't had a great season I want him to stick around as I think he is premier league class
Hooiveld - 6.5 Not premier League class, gives away way too many freekicks, penalties and own goals is good in the air tho
Yoshida - 7.5 Was impressive, thought he had a good season, he can read the play and knows what to do.
Shaw - 8 ****ing brilliant, I'm sure we would have brought in buttner or olsson if Adkins didn't know that this kid was already up to standard, but nonetheless he answered our pleas for a left back superbly.
Fox - 4 ****, feel sorry for him as he was just playing in a league that was too good for him

Cork - 8 Was consistently good
Schneiderlin - 10 Amazing season, could do a job for any team. Playing for Southampton he is our most important player
Davis - 7 Not talented, tries tho. Actually had a very good season given his limited ability, don't want to see him on the pitch unless we are 2+ goals up next season
Ward-Prowse - 6 Was alright didn't do much other than a good assist against Sunderland, Should be mid premiership one day
Ramirez - 7 Its hard to rate Ramirez as for brief moments he was our best player, I think people are being harsh on him, if he had have played in our last 3 games I have no doubt we would have scored twice as much. I can't give him more than a 7 because he didn't string two 90 minute performances together. Averaged out over the season he was more than decent.

Lallana - 6 If we had have gone down I would have said he was an embarrassment the way he captained the side. Fancy having your weakest player physically and mentally your captain. Once he is stripped of his captaincy and gets some confidence back he could score 10+ gaols and be playing for England he definitely has the ability.
Puncheon - 7.5 I thought he had a very good season. He gives us that attacking instinct that too many of our players don't have
Guly - 6 Was good enough wouldn't mind seeing him stick around wouldn't care if he left

Lambert - 9 Outstanding, if he had pace he would have probably scored 40 goals. 15 from a striker playing in a team that at times couldn't create is brilliant. Will be just as good next season possibly better. I would still start him even if he's just a little worse.
Rodriguez - 8 Will be a top class player, has everything. Thought he had a good half season under pochettino
Mayuka - 5 Makes decent runs probably needs to be in goal scoring form to do any damage for us, don't think we will ever play him into form

    Team - 8.5

It's been a good season, we have played well as a team with individual errors being our downfall on too many occasions, particularly early in the season. I think Cork has had a good season but has his limitations, I have really admired his commitment and attitude and would like to see him involved next season, we need someone better to partner Morgan I feel. Hooiveld, Lallana and Davis also need to be competing with someone much better.

Mine is close to MMJ - I the high was Morgan, closely followed by Clyne and Ricky - I think that Corks' return from injury kick-started our recovery. The negatives are the central defenders (although to be fair I think we all knew we would not fair so well with this trio); goalkeeping left alot to be desired, but Boruc came through in the end. The two big disapointments, for me, was Lallana and in particular Rameriz - who has not justified his price-tag. We have struggled of late to score goals when dominating games and having alot of possession in the final third - these two players are expected to craft out opportunities and have largely failed. Davis was surprisingly more effective in that duty and but for some woeful finishing might have gotten a higher scoring.
