Season finished...

And what a season it has been.

No we didn't get far in the cups and yes we finished in the bottom half, but what sane fan can say that they wouldn't have taken this at the start of the season?

Personally, I can't wait for the summer, should be an interesting one as far as we are concerned, many ins and outs to come I feel...

 

Spot on. Not a single fan would have turned their nose up at a 12th place finish and some great memories. Really exciting to think what we can achieve next season with Ben Arfa, Gosling, Best etc all fit and a few new signings into the mix.

 

After that match I'm glad it's over now. I cba to see Newcastle play again until we've sorted the team out and have some quality in the side.

We're not far off of having a team that is capable of a top 8 finish. I think we can safely say that Colo, Jose (if he stays), Tiote, Barton, Ben Arfa etc = quality. We're just missing a couple of decent signings.

It's quite a gap in my opinion. I'd say we're 20-25million off being comfortably around the Europa League spots. I wouldn't want to have to rely on luck and other teams poor playing to get us there. To comfortably reach these spots based on our own merit, we need a few more very high quality players playing week in and week out.

 

Umm, we have that kind of money to spend...

 

We hope....and even if we do it has to be spent wisely. Wouldnt want to see £10 million go to waste on Carlton ****ing Cole haha.

 

Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal & Man City are in their own 'top 4 league', Liverpool & Spurs are fighting it out for 5th and 6th but I think we fall in the next group with the likes of Everton, Fulham etc that can realistically go for 7th / 8th. Given that we finished 12th this season despite being crippled by injuries, we should be aiming to finish 8th next year. That would be positive steady progress and I feel it's within reach.

 

This, don't forget we have HBA back next season and if the rumors about Menez/Zog are true, our midfield will be one of the better ones in the league.

 

Yes. I said that we need to spend that to get around the Europa League places. I was making the point that to reach it we'd have to spend 20-25mill, and that amount can create a substantial improvement in a squad, so right now with our current squad we're WELL off reaching up there.

 

And we were only 3 points off of 8th this season, think of all of the late goals we have conceded and the matches where we have dominated and still not won, with some quality we'll pick up these points.
