I'll wait to see what other transfer business is done. It was hard to look outside last season's top four, but with Utd and Spurs having new managers, LVG having cash to spend and Suarez gone from Liverpool, things may be changing. City, Chelsea and Arsenal should be there.
There's no prize - are you always this careful? Having said that, if you put in Utd and they come 6th, we will take the piss for a year!
Like others I see Man C, Chelsea, and Arsenal as nailed on top 4 but the 4th? I honestly can't pick the 4th it's too close to call IMO. We have the unknown factors of Spurs & Man U with new managers and Liverpool minus their goal scoring machine. Not forgetting Everton what will they do? So I am opting out of choosing a fourth team.
I think this year is uncharted territory. The concentration of talent at the top seven clubs is high enough that any of them could get top four if things click. And yet it's high enough at Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal it's very hard to see them failing to get top four. Yet recent history indicates that someone will crash out unexpectedly. I can't believe it will be Chelsea (though they did it before) or Man City, so I guess that leaves Arsenal, even though they look to have a team that could win the title if things go well. You'd have to be a real optimist to predict Spurs to finish top four. And yet if Poch lives up to his billing--hell, even if we just play like we did at the end of last year, in terms of winning points--the talent is sufficient. This year will be more surprising and harder to predict than most.
In this order: Chavs £ity United Arsenal No way will 'Pool finish any where near top 4. 8th is my best bet. Michael "I have absolutely no bias" Owen, on TalkShite, said that 'Pool will finish in top 4 because, though they've lost Goofy, Brenda will spend the money wisely and make them stronger. Not only is that not logical, he also forgot to take out Goofy's goals from last season. If he did that, he'd come to the conclusion, like most reasonable people, that 'Pool are ****ed.
Have Liverpool actually bought any defenders yet? Seeing as that was their weakness last season and lost their strength and bite up front......
