faces almost certain relegation from the FTSE 100 Share Index on Wednesday when the quarterly review is announced.

The chain’s declining performance coupled with a series of public relations disasters, including clashes with MPs, have seen the firm’s value crash by half in just five months to £2.3billion.

The humiliating turn of events follows two and a half years in the FTSE 100 with an increasing focus on the company’s business practices – including criticisms of its working conditions and its use of zero-hour contracts – and the behaviour of its executives.

Downsizing: Sports Direct, controlled by Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley, is likely to join the FTSE 250

The retailer is likely to join Aberdeen Asset Management into the FTSE 250 as several contenders queue up to take their places.

Paddy Power Betfair is expected to catapult into the blue chip ranks after the merger between the Dublin-based bookie and Betfair earlier this month created an £8.9billion gambling giant. It is likely to be joined by private healthcare group Mediclinic.

The Share price must be really slipping

All the Shareholders must really want to get out and sell off their remaining shares! Who will buy them?

Mike thats who then he will reap the benefits when he pulls out his next trick and the shares come flying back up. Hmm just in time for the Euro's when the country goes footy mad again. Its all a ploy!
