After following the Town for the best part of 60 years I cannot remember a start to the season like this so lets enjoy it while it lasts. All our games seem to be tight but we do enough (and have great options on the bench)and I thought our game management in the second half was excellent today. Teams do not seem to be able to work us out and I think we are still improving - especially upfront where Payne and Morris look a real threat. We can go off to Walsall with a much better team than we have had in recent years so lets fill their away end and roar on the lads - I cannot wait for this one.

This was a tough game for Town. Scunthorpe had more opportunities than us in the first half and played a pressing game that matched ours, it stopped key players such as Nolan quite effectively.

Through hard work we ended up in front with a dropped shot being put in the back of the net by Payne, this would've only been Scunthorpe's forth goal they had conceded all season.

Morris was brought on for Whalley and Payne moved into Whalleys position. Although Payne looked tired he still showed what a threat he was and his strength was great to see on that side. Morris was working at full pace across the front holding the ball up well and we ended up with a second goal. We could have been three up but Godfrey hesitated on what was a great opportunity.

Ref wise, he did seem to be tricked by the constant falling over by Scunthorpe players and several tackles were judged unfairly resulting in free kicks. Whereas we seemed to get only the odd play on from being fouled. How on earth the ref decided to overrule the lino in the first half and awarded a corner instead of a goal kick puzzled our group. Their no. 12, Bishop should probably have seen red for attempting a headbutt, it ended up in a yellow card but if someone had seen it then surely it was a red?

Town gave now broken a long standing record of winning by only one goal and we have great company across Europe for being only a select few that are unbeaten this season.

    Good times.

Totally agree with you Matster. Probably the poorest ref we have seen this season but we still found a way to win. Despite his playacting, I thought Bishop was their best player. Scunny are a bit like us and thrive on hard work and pressing and I think they will be in the play-off mix come the end of the season. As for us - who knows if we can keep this up but the last time I have seen a Town side fight for the cause like this one was Turner's class of 79 so long may it continue.
