Who are Ya? Formed in 1899, The Iron turned professional in 1912 and joined the Football League in 1950, when the Third Divisions North and South were expended from 22 to 24 teams. They finished 12th in their first season and went on to gain promotion in 1958. They spent six seasons in the 2nd tier before being relegated. Since that time they have spent all but three seasons in the lower leagues, with 2010-11 being their most recent season in the Championship. Two famous names who started their playing career at Scu.nthorpe were Liverpool and England stars Ray Clemence and Kevin Keegan. Former England cricketer Sir Ian Botham made 11 appearances for Scunny between 1980 and 1985. The record attendance at the Old Showground was 23,935, in an FA Cup 4th Round tie against none other than Portsmouth. That record is destined to remain, with the capacity at Glandford Park being just 9,088. Match Odds (at Skybet) Pompey: 5/4 Scunny: 9/5 Draw: 23/10 Mystic Devo It’s difficult to see where Pompey’s next win is going to come from, bar the other side having a couple of players sent off. You can’t accuse the players of lack of effort though. The ongoing saga must inevitably be having a detrimental affect. Having lost their first four league games, Scunny’s last four have produced two wins and two draws. A few weeks ago I was looking at this fixture as being a home banker, but the current form is most definitely with the visitors. This isn’t the most glamorous fixture but I hope that isn’t reflected too much in the attendance, as the 12th man is needed more than ever right now! I foresee a scrappy contest. Devo reckons: Pompey 1-1 Scunny
Agree Dev - very tricky match, and one we really must try and win. Could be a few goals from both teams, so I'll go for 3-2 to Pompey PUP
Portsmouth 4-2 Scun.thorpe, just to be different! I think there will be a few goals in this, so might as well predict a big scoreline!
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ma81eq32Ev1ranhnao1_400.gif Don't worry about us- shouldn't you be focusing on your next beating, this weekend away at Everton Mark ? They're in superb form ATM
Haha .. well I think meowth ran a "Agony Aunt" page a few months back, you could take a look over at that to help you get over your worries ??
Scunny have a lot more possession and twice as many shots on goal - but we're holding on. 1-1 at HT then we shoot to the Fratton end. They need to work their magic and suck the goals in. Tbf the pen was saved.
YESSS! 2-1 POMPEEEEEEYYYYY! I am out this evening- I hope to put my "Player Ratings" thread up tomorrow, if I have not done so by tonight. I listened to the game on BBC Radio Solent. Did anyone else have issues listening to it on their website ?? I missed around 15 mins of the first half due to their "technical problems"! Let's beat Yeovil next game! And have a good evening fellow blues! (Be sure to watch MotD later as well- I won't say the score, but Southampton's loss, combined with Pompey's win- means I can enjoy my lads' meet-up tonight even more!
How do you manage to Radio Solent on the internet PL Stewie? I've had to buy into the Cherries player to listen to the opposition commentary, although that can be quite fun sometimes.
That's because the press association link has gone down. Wes Thomas got the second goal - his goal took us above his home team (we're above Bournemouth now)
Blimey, it seems you aren't joking. On another note, I've come to the conclusion that the latest score displayed by the BBC is not to be believed.
